Are we as a community doing enough to help the homeless? What more should be done?

Gee, I noticed that no one has yet responded to this question, yet.

I guess this community really doesn't care about the homeless issues we are facing this community.

Their presence can and could hinder our economic progression, our social ethics, and even our family values.

But, oh, well, nobody cares.

I could care less about some drug head, that chose this kind of life. I have not seen one person that was homeless not of their own making that people did not help. Can you name one? Back in the 80's . The rumor got out that I was losing my house because I was sick.
I had no money problems. People all over the place offered to help. One man that hated my guts, came to the house and offered to make my house payments until I got back on my feet. No we never became friends, but this is what happens in good nieghbor hoods.

To Doug Johnson:

It's nice to know that you have friends who really care about your well being.

It's a shame, though, that some, not all, homeless people are drug heads. Many of them do have mental health issues. Neither you or I can never deny, that even those who are well off, do have mental health issues as well.

Many, due to economic situations, have sought assistance through the agencies, the church groups, and many other organizaitons, that are available for these homeless people. Who in turn, are their (homeless people) FRIENDS.

But, you do have every right (because that is the mental thought that you have) to kick at a person who is down. Because that is the way you have perceived this critical issue. That all of these homeless people deserves what they get, and got.

And yes, they're many homeless people who expects every single handout they can get. That's because they're trying to survive.

Then there are those who are going through an socio-economic transition, minus the drug abuse
and alcohol abuse. Just trying to survive, so that things in their life can get on the right track.

But, the point is, and the question is, do you think, we, as a community is doing enough to help the homeless, and what more should be done?

For me, I pray. And I ask the Almighty, to guide me, and grant me the strength to help in anyway I can. Amen.
