The black book

Greensboro City Council has seen the infamous black book...now what? Should the council have been allowed to view it against the advice of the AG's office? Does this change anything? Should everyone move on, as one council member suggests? Or is there something missing, as another does?

YES!

They need to let the internal investigation continue, and to weed out the bad cops. Especially those who have been in "cops of interest" category.

YES I AGREE

The book should be shown - but not turn it around that it was a bad thing to try and clean the department up. There are a few cops that do have the dirt on them and they need to be dismissed and punished they know who they are and will be brought down sooner or later. The "Black Book" is being misjudged. I hope all is looked at fairly and remember what had been going on in the department at the time. It is time to get this mess straight and move forward instead continuing to move backwards.

I just wonder with the recent sexual assault involving on-duty officers, if there is any relationship between the assault which spawned the creation of the "black book" and the recent assault?

Do you all have a sexual predator on the police force, and more specifically, do you have a police commander who is a sexual predator?

These are serious issues, which need to be answered.

it appears that cohen & sanders have their documentation together regarding this key piece of "evidence" i.e. black officers on duty at time in question etc. etc. city manager & company along with RMA are looking bad as each day passes. this whole issue involving the GPD should be exposed for what it is...a kowtow to a special interest group by johnson & miles. chief wray & company will have their day in court and justice will prevail and adjustments will be made in city management along with revealing incompetence of risk management assoc.

Now that we have Keith and company out of city council, it is time to rid Mitch and company out of Greensboro. Now that the "black book" is available to council, it will finally bring an end to this scandal. The new council needs to satn firm and not "quiver and shake" under threats made by certain black leaders in the city. Greensboro needs healing and rightly so. The only way for this to happen is to completely drop the "race card" and let the courts decide. When you have bad cops on the force (whether black or white) they need to be terminated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Come on Matheny...."kind of a dirty feeling"? Couldn't you have come up w/ something better than that? It sounds like you are a 14 year old who just got caught with his father's Penthouse.

Hinson & his cronies are "DIRTY". When I see him in uniform, it makes me sick. He has brought so much disgrace to the PD. But why shouldn't he....the PD keeps letting it happen.

Johnson & Miles are just as "DIRTY" and the old City Council let them get away with it. I have high expectations for the new elected council...

So the answer to your question is YES we need to move on. However, ONLY when all of this DIRTY filth is cleaned up.

This is to anyone it pertains to. I often wonder that if you could know everything there is to know about the GPD fiasco... would it actually make you feel better?

If Johnson and Bellamy were fired would you feel better?

Just wondering.

What is wrong with showing a officers picture in a line up. If they are innocent.

Seth Cohen is trying his best to buttress all the false information that the Rhino Times has put out as being "True".

Cohen's version of events and his claim that the "book" is not related to his client's case in any fashion seems to indicate that the AG is lying. Unless of course the book is being used against Fox.

It is also interesting that Cohen is also now accusing the City of selective release of information. I was not aware of the documents that Cohen says he has in his possession, but they would be covered by our documents request.

I will repeat again- if the City's position is that the "black book" was not part of a legitimate police investigation, then they have no legal basis to not release it because it would not be shielded by the criminal investigations exception to the public records law.

If it was part of a legitimate criminal investigation, then their whole story about its illegitimate use by Wray and others is a lie.

They can't have it both ways.

I'm going to try and call Seth next week and find out what his position on releasing the book and accompanying documents is.

There is also still the pending issue of the refusal to release the RMA. I am waiting for a response providing the legal basis for refusing to release this document.

Nobody is going to move on until all the facts are made available. Very few people trust anything that comes from the City Managers office or the City Attorney's at this point because they have taken too many contradicting stands on too many issues.

If they can release tapes of Johnson's interview of Wray discussing Wray's job, then they have no basis to hide behind personnel laws when it comes to the RMA, which is a far greater stretch in terms of trying to classify it as a private personnel record.

Seth is exactly right that the City is releasing selective information that favors them. It won't be over until all of the information is released.

JWW,

I didn't give my opinion, I was just asking the questions for the sake of conversation.
