Certainly not a change for the better, moreso "par for the course" so to speak. Fidel Castro really hasn't been in power for the last few years as a result of his declining health and numerous ailments.
That said, while the situation is wholly the same, it doesn't mean that there is not room for improvement and revitalization in Cuba. Most analysts do not believe that Raul (Fidel's brother and most likely successor) is much of a visionary, but once he passes, Cuba is ripe for a renewal. Once they have a leader in power as a result of free, general elections, the trade embargo will be lifted and the small island nation will have a bright future.

Batista might return.
Most people don't realize they were no better off
50 or so years ago.. Just traded one lousy govt for another.
The only difference being we were happy with Batista.
