I'm frustrated with the detectives follow-up on my case. My house was broken into Jan 18th. We gave the police the name of a suspect including phone and address, the name, address and phone number of an eye witness who saw this person on my property and the serial numbers of the items stolen. To date -- NOTHING has been done. No one has been questioned. It took the police dept ten days to put my case into the computer and assign a detective. No wonder we don't feel safe.

I feel safe, but am quite concerned about the rash of break ins of late in my area. I've come to the point where I've had a land line re-installed so I can have an alarm system in my home.
We sleep with a weapon at our bedside now, not just because of all the break ins here - but because of the whacky world we live in.

I feel pretty safe in the neighborhood that I live in. But I do worry about the neighborhood where my in-laws have lived for 40 years. An area which used to be a nice quite neighborhood now has had shootings and robberies and gang related crimes. How can we expect things to get better when the police chief doesn't get rid of the criminals who are working for the police force. When the fox is guarding the hen house, why would we expect things to get better. Unless we have change on the police force things will only get worse.

Our city leaders are too busy making personal deals with developers to bother with our safety or managing this city. The police department is making an effort, but without leadership it will continue to be inneffective.

How can we feel safe when the foxes are guarding the hen house. My sister's house was robbed and car stolen. Next day my brother saw three people in her car driving down the road, tried to get the police to respond for over 30 minutes and even had the location they lived and we still have had NO RESPONSE. All they do is complain about their hours, their uniforms, their race, etc. They
are too busy with their personal problems to be concerned about the citizens of Greensboro. We need leadership and taking responsibility for your actions instead of blaming others, but
this won't happen here. You were elected and hired for the people not for your selfish gains.
All is needed now is wine to go with all the whining that continues to go on and on. We the citizens of Greensboro deserve better and should demand better.

Although I (and especially my wife) may not feel safe at Four Seasons we do feel safe in our home - we both have completed a handgun education and safety course and, in our home, we keep a realiable handgun nearby and accessible. We hope we never have to use it -

Recommended study: City of Greensboro official web site. Go to departments/police/statistics. Police data is tracked for several years on a monthly basis. Nothing should be taken lightly, but it appears most of the reported data has not varied widely in the period(s) reported.
I attended the western district police station overflow meeting on gangs and drugs several nights ago. None of the police department command officers was in attendance. I couldn't help wondering what impression that made on the police personnel in charge of the meeting. What leadership?
