One correction to the story. Greensboro already has a marathon. It is the Triple Lakes Marathon and 40 Miler in October.

Thanks, Joe. The distinction the writer was making was the difference in a road race and a trail race. But we should have mentioned Triple Lakes.

Sadly my running days are behind; otherwise I would be in the pack on race day. Interest in running in Greensboro has always lagged behind that shown in Charlotte. The big difference is the amount of support shown by the local daily newspaper. In Charlotte running is a big deal year round and evidenced by several marathons and 10ks that attract thousands of runners from Charlotte and surrounding states. It would be great for Greensboro if the paper sponsored and reported running events more than has been the case. Come on Robinson, Clark, and others at N&R - put on your running shoes and get with it!

I think it is great that Greensboro is putting on this race! As indicated in the story, races (particularly marathons) have become BIG business in recent years as evidenced by the increasing number of races offered around the country. There is a race out there for practically anyone looking for one--hills, no hills, rural, urban, historic, etc. The key to any good race is first and foremost GREAT organization. Secondly, GREAT support is always a must and thirdly, a scenic, interesting course is always a plus. If Greensboro can combine these three elements into this race then it definitely has the opportunity to grow into a nice, yearly Spring event. If Greensboro can mirror the qualities that makes the Richmond Marathon in November such a great event then it should do well in its own right. Yes, I am planning on making the trip down from Central Virginia to run this race.
