Not all rasism today is caused by whites. There is MORE Black against White rasism happening today than White against Black. Most Young African Americans understand that the Old School Civil Rights way of thinking is obsolete. Afican American leaders such as Rev. J. Jackson, Rev. Al Sharpton, Cornel West etc. is Old School. More and More Young Afican Americans today realize and understand, you have to make it on your own, through hard work, respect for others, and education. You can't expect a better way of life through demanding more entitlements. And the way of "the hood" is not the way to a better way of life. Taking responsibility for your actions and your future is the ONLY way. If you commit the crime, you do the time. If you drop out of school then you can expect to flip burgers the rest of your life. If you desire 22" wheels more than a nice place to live, then you can expect to live in the projects the rest of your life. If you hang out with drug dealers, then expect to be shot at. If you don't like to be shot at, then DEMAND drug dealers be put in jail. (And to put them in jail, we have to have jail space. So don't listen to Skip Alston, vote for the bond to build a new jail). Respect if EARNED, not demanded.

If America racial lines still split society then why is a black man on the brink of becoming president. This would have never happen in 1967.
The real or main problem in the black communitys is drugs.
This guy will always find fault because this is what he talks and writes about for a living.

There doesn't seem much to argue with in Mr. West's remarks. I'm having a little trouble with him saying white people are in denial that there is inequality and separation between the white and black worlds. I think most people of any color would not deny that. What people may argue about is what is the continuing cause of this. It seems most white's would blame blacks and vice versa.
I can't help thinking that what he wanted to say was most white people are in denial about their culpability in it. In light of world history, how could one not argue that there is some type of historical group culpablity...but, what do do?
There are myriad educational programs, scholarships etc. from preschool to post grad for helping people who truly want to learn. The opportunity is truly there, most times exceeding what would be available in any other country in the world. Look at blacks present at the highest levels of sports, music, entertainment, government, the sciences etc. There are small business loans, affirmative action executive fast-tracking at many companies. I mean, what else can be done?-flatout cash-on-the-barrelhead monetary gifts for anybody with black genes?
It's just not clear.
The talk contained some talk about bias in the press or the political system. You must be kidding. Like the N&R or look at Alma , and Earl and Skip or Yvonne? It just doesn't fly, fans!
What has to be looked at is who is telling black people they don't have a chance or there are people out there actively and systematically plotting to screw them. If it is the NAACP or some other politician or foundation etc that is predicated on the maintainence of this fallacy for it's continued existence, or for their prospective paychecks, then you have to look out that you're getting hustled.

Please note: The remark above: "what do do" was supposed to read "what to do".
