I had thought about Jack several times recently, wondering what he was doing. I had not heard of anything since Oldies 93. I was listening to him from the days of WCOG ( I'm only a couple years younger than Jack).
He was truly a Rock-n-Roll legend, a walking talking encyclopedia of the subject. I was truly sorry to hear of his death at such a young age.

I was lucky enough to call Jack my friend and had the honor and privilage of being able to spend time with him over the last couple of years. I was a true treasure. I miss the morning email to say he was ok. I miss him.

I was born and raised in Buffalo, NY (WKBW-AM) and remember Jack Armstrong vividly; he was a legend as a Buffalo DJ. He worked at KB in the 70's as Jackson Armstrong - then he returned for a short stint when they revived WKBW a few years back.
I now live in Greensboro - and really enjoyed hearing him when he would be a guest on local talk radio. It brought back many fond memories.

I was a teen in Buffalo when Jackson was on the air at WKBW-AM 1520 from 1970-1973. He was amazing. He inspired me to try my hand at radio. After he left Buffalo, "KB," AM radio and the city never seemed the same. He was one in a million. We were lucky to have him.

Jack was a giant and legend in the broadcast world. I spent several years in broadcasting during the 60's as well as the early 70's. Our paths crossed several times. He was the same guy everyone heard on the air, in person. One of the best has passed on and he will be missed by all those who knew him both on and off the microphone. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I remember Jack as a great radio personality when he was at WKBW Radio in Buffalo. Jack helped me with an internet tribute site to that station. He offered detailed information about his tenture as one of the best known rock 'n roll DJs on the east coast. He would take the time to mention the site on his radio show and he also recorded several intros for me. We would email almost on a daily basis and I learned about his love of flying. Jack introduced me to many people in the radio business. I will dearly miss him but also feel honored to have known him!

Jack was still John Larsh when I first met him in 1963 in Hendersonville, NC. His glory days in radio were still ahead, but I knew he'd go far. I sat with him in the studio at WCOG one night, marveling at his speed and wit, even in 1966. Years later I saw him again in Los Angeles. I last got together with Jack at WMQX on a visit to Greensboro. He was certainly a radio force of nature, and someone who influenced me tremendously at a young age. Jack was always a good buddy, never boring, and ever there for his friends. I will miss him.

I was very saddened when I learned about Jack's passing last night. "Jackson Armstrong" as he was known at Toronto's CHUM, started there in 1968 around the same time my family moved to Toronto. I was 11 years old when Jack captured my imagination as no other radio personality ever did. I was overjoyed when I heard him again in recent years on WKBW's revival, listening from my car in New Jersey during night's when the signal could be heard. I listened to his farewell when WKBW folded once again, hearing the disappointment in his voice, but greatly impressed that he would offer his email address to keep in touch with his listeners. Jack expressed the best of Top 40 radio, and will truly be missed.
