All municipal and county elected officials should be elected in at large elections.
Wards or district should be abolished,in these elections.
"At large" elections will require that all elected officials to be accountable to all the people, all the time.
They all determine whether or not to raise your property taxes or zone your property,so why not have them all be accountable,to all who are affected by their deeds.
Time to abolish ward/district county and municipal elections.

I agree with Mr. Pulliam; however, existing federal law might override an any attempt to return to an at-large system. It's interesting that we had minority representation on the City Council before changing to the current district system. City government functioned smoothly and efficiently. City leaders did much in their day to address the changing social climate and were one of the early Southern cities to recognize and adopt various anti-discrimination laws.
We have our first elected mayor from a minority, and have had at-large minority council representation. I favor having all elected officials stand scrutiny across the entire city and be elected on the basis of accomplishment. Minorities can be assured representation in the city and county government by demonstrating solid governing skills and promoting workable solutions the the myriad of problems confronting the city. Voters will elect anyone who demonstrates integrity and the ability to get the job done.

Mr Knight.
It was encouraging that the argument for abolishing the ward system in Thomasville NC,was finally upheld by the courts, after a unsuccessful appeal by the proponents of ward systems.
An at large, frequent election system was invoked as the result of the will and consent of Thomasville voters, who retain that right.NC Constitution.
