These "devices" are nothing more than personal computers. Not slot machines. No more than if I went down to the local Wal Mart, Circuit City, Best Buy or Office Depot and picked up the latet "Vegas" software and installed it on my laptop.
Maybe Law enforcement should spend more time on drug dealers, rapists, murderers and the like, or is there suddenly some shortage of them?
And by the way, under your abbreviated description of the NC law, a Coke machine that vends a coke with a Sweepstakes under the cap would also be considered a slot machine....How many have been seized lately?
0!
Law Enforcement should stop trying to be the judicial branch of government. There was to be a separation in these! ALE you cant be judge, jury and ENFORCEMENT!
The case history is clear, so why exactly are you harrasing the legitimate businessman?

The reason these machines are illegal is the fact that they PAY-OFF. You buy a phone card with $5.00 and you win $500.00 you get the cash. I know people that will spend there entire paycheck on a phone card and never make the first phone call, only to lose the entire amount paying video slot machines. These machines are illegal when they are paying off. Go ask the clerks at Sumner Curb Market, Randleman Road Business Center, another one behind Mrs. Winners all of these being on Randleman Road in Greensboro. I agree with the sheriff of Rockingham County, they are illegal. Just because they put a banner saying "Sweepstakes" on the front door does not make gambling legal.
Also, the pink, green, yellow and blue ball sheets are illegal and you can be arrested for having these. But J&S Jewelry Store on Randleman Road doesn't think so.

Snowday -- that is ridiculous. Those games are no different than someone spending $5 at Burger King on a value meal and getting paid $10,000 in their sweepstakes. Please explain the difference?
