I sure would think twice before relocating to or investing in a city where a crime wave of such magnitude is taking place. I wonder how crime in Greensboro compares to other cities -- if violent crime is on the rise elsewhere too? But America in general is a much more frightening place to live these days, due to our gun-crazed and violence obsessed culture -- not to mention the fascists who have taken over Washington. Now, I expect the business, real estate and development community will probably give the N&R publisher and editorial board hell for raising this question -- and for reporting the facts. -- but they fail to see that societal decay is, yes, "chickens coming home to roost" after years of irresponsible conservative policies that started with Nixon, followed by the Reagan-Bush eras. The business community gets these can't-do conservative jerks into Congress and the White House by ginning up fear and racial hatred and raising the public's paranoia level -- they kick and scream like infants about taxes and government and regulation -- they get their flunkies in Congress to stop investing in human capital, education and public infrastructure in this highly complex society -- and then they turn around and blame government when things fall apart!

As our mayor and city council-members have their self-serving agendas and personal deals going on with developers, the essential services (protection, water planning, waste planning, etc.) are being neglected. You can vote these clowns out of office, or keep tolerating these problems.

Greensboro is absolutely more dangerous! all you hear about are shootings! I don't even like living in the city anymore. I grew up here and it is really scary to see where Greensboro is heading. I am not so sure this is where I want to raise a family anymore.

I will be leaving Greensboro soon and I have lived here for 60 + years. Never have I experienced the corruption, the lack of concern and respect for the citizens of GSO, the hiring of unqualified management, the criminals with badges, no integrity, no morals, and these are the people in power. Who wouldn't be afraid.
Glad to be leaving.

Yes - I lock my doors and drive down E. Lee St. as fast as I can without getting pulled over.

DId you know that there are Police known as PNRC officers in these communities? Is this an example of more wasted taxpayer's money that the Housing Authority has control over?
Not that police presence would matter alot if someone were hell bent on doing a drive-by, but where are the results of positivity coming from having these on site officers in these public housing communities?
Gang on gang crime is still happening, people's kids are running amuck without any regard for the police presence or their fellow human.
I would like a story on how much money exactly our tax money has paid to these officers and these "programs" in these communities, and see some results, statisticts, regarding how it helps to have these onsite officers vs not.
If someone wants to shoot someone they are going to whether or not there is a police presence.. however Greensboro Housing Authority, using my tax money to invent the idea that the community is "safe" and the police are "involved" really is uncool.

Greensboro's police chief told the city council that crime was actually down when compaired to 2007.
He also said we've had 24 drive by shootings.
He might think crime is down but this soon to be annexed resident doesn't think so.
