Rent the A&T football stadium for a weekend, surround it with a high chain link fence topped with razor wire, fill it with as many gang members as possible (complete with their weapons of choice) and let them have at it for 48 hours.

I have said this before: Until we get the gang members and thugs out of the police dept. we will not get the gangs and thugs out of Greensboro. James Hinson and his gang members have got to go. And since Chief Bellamy is not taking any actions to get rid of the Hinson gang, then that makes him part of the problem. Bellamy must go too.

In some countries they shoot gang members on the spot . . .
Gang memebers would do the same to you . . .

My very wise dad used to be a gang leader in a very large city way back when. When I ran this question by him, he said to find the gang leaders and make them part of the solution.

David Wilkerson (Cross and Switchblade) had the right idea. Get their hearts and souls transformed, and go from there. Not very PC, but darn effective! At present we are not even ready to - "go from there."
We have to face the music here folks. It's a systemic problem. That is, the bilge of our whole decadent social milieu is pumping these poor guys out a mile a minute. Sure, the initial gangstas were out-a-towners, but the rest were recuited locally - from broken and disfunctional homes, failing, racially troubled schools, and off the streets. Until we take back the family, we are just going to continue spinning our wheels as we throw good money after bad, trying to implement somebody's new bearocratic bright idea.
Right now, the boys in blue are out-flanked, out-gunned, and out-maneuvered by these crafty, street- savvy dudes. In short, we are treating symptoms, and seem clueless as to causes - or at least how to treat the causes, if we know them.
Perhaps it's just the further third-worlding of our once-great and prosperous culture. Add economic woes and still-porous borders and there you have it: ghetto/barrio come to town!! Only a radical restructuring of our entire family-educational-social system according to the biblical model can save us from the big flush.
Sorry to get a bit graphic, but I don't know what else is going to get our attention. Our fearless leaders seem to be asleep at the wheel or something. More superficial bandaiding just won't cut it. Major replacement surgery is the only viable option. Same for the public schools - radical replacement - God's way.

How long are we going to tolerate illegal gangs in our communities? What we need are grass roots efforts to eradicate gangs and the sale of illegal drugs. If we don't try, we all deserve what we get. We can start by disspelling some of the myths going around in our society. For instance, many people young and old believe that drug pushers make a lot of money. However, one U. of C. researcher found that gang members selling illegal drugs only made $3.50 per hour. In other words, gang members made less than half of the minimum wage. Gang members could make more money slinging hamburgers and they wouldn't have to go to jail for it. In addition, young people on the borderline need to know that every wrong doer gets caught, one way or another.
