Layoffs
Are you seeing any decline in city services as a result of the hiring freeze? Are the layoffs the right thing for the city council to do?

Listen here fine sir, I don't see why they don't close the McGirt-Horton and Vance Chavis branches. McGirt-Horton is never used and Vance Chavis is less than a mile from the Central Library. And also, the library's Webpage is not user-friendly at all and lacks vital information.

Mr. Millis: Thank God it is not up to you what happens. Those libraries are in areas where their services are needed. Are you at the McGirt Horton library every minute? For those who live in and around Vance Chavis, it is not practical to try and find transportation to the Central Library. But since you appear to have so much free time on your hands, perhaps you can volunteer and offer your services to the City and fill in those vacancies. Yes, some of the services are declining, but isn't it enough that the schools aren't providing resources to help our kids, so now we are going to sacrifice the only other resource available to them.

Is Mitch going to announce about losing his own job? Would be worth hearing about that one.

We would save on the largest waste of city funds by getting rid of Mitch Johnson!

Thank you Trudy Wade for making the motion to demote Mitch Johnson. He is lucky to even have a job. Too bad there are 6 idiots on the city council who bow at the feet of Johnson and will do any and eveyrthing Mitchy boy tells them to do. Funny, I thought the City Manager was suppose to work for the city council, not the other way around.

Just as I said when Mitch came up with this brilliant idea to save 500k, it's going to cost more in the long-run. Now even City employees are speaking out.
Mitch needs to be stopped. How about firing him for violating the hiring freeze? He hired one person to fill a vacancy in his office then created a new position in his office and hired a person for that.
I guess it comes down to the idiots he works for and the real estate industry that put them in office.

Libraries shouldn't be in the business of baby sitting kids.

It's too early to try to associate a decline in City services with the hiring freeze. It appears that the main lack of services is from the GPD so in true Mitch "management" style, the most positions are being eliminated from that department. Let's face it, as long as the City council isn't smart enough to replace Mitch, Greensboro will continue to be a sinking ship. Kudos to Rakestraw & Wade for trying. Unfortunately, they're fighting a losing battle.

I would like to see a decline in all city services with a corresponding decline in taxes. Less government and less taxes please.

Layoffs are fine - just start at the top instead of the poor underlings who are stuggling to keep their families from going under. Then have an outside reorganization firm come in and give every big administration fat cat a competancy test - Oh heck - fire 'em all! Hire-back the ones that pass it, and hire new guys who are highly intelligent, eminently qualified, creative, and genuinely altruistic. Yea, right! - in our dreams! But, something like that.
Oh yeah - and start in Washington!

Mitch needs to be eliminated , then things WILL definately get better for all of Greensboro , give the people ( the tax payers what they want for a change )
