I think I will use it to buy a tank of gas. The 1200 we get should just about cover it. Thanks, president w

Ours is going right back to the IRS to pay part of my quarterly self-employment taxes. Also, all these news stories assume everyone gets a refund, which is painfully untrue in this household and many others. What about those of us who paid taxes with our 2007 return? When do we get our "rebate"? That would be the helpful other half of the story for our news outlets to report.

I'm going to put my into a high interest savings account, let it make some money for me, since the government is just going to be asking for it back in 2009...

Joy - the stimulus is not taxable. Not sure if that's what you meant by stating the gov't will ask for it back.
From IRS.gov:
"Q. Is my Stimulus Payment taxable?
A. No. You will not owe tax on your payment when you file your 2008 federal income tax return. But you should keep a copy of the IRS letter you receive later this year listing the amount of your payment."

My husband and I plan on using ours to pay off one of the cars, that way--that amount of money can start going towards our savings every month.

I'm spending about half of mine on Budweiser and women and I'll probably just waste the other half.

With a little luck, my "stimulus check" should arrive just in time to pay the June installment of my 2008 Estimated Income Tax. It won't fully cover either state or federal, but it will make a small dent.
How stimulating!
