The headline: Obama distances himself from former minister
Too late, Senator. You had YEARS to disavow this bozo, but only when your neck is being fitted for an albatross cravat do you try to distance yourself.
No SANE person buys your eleventh hour epiphany and lame attempt at recantation.

Obama had to deal with this once and for all since the Republicans in NC were getting alot of mileage out of this and eroding Obamas lead in NC. His trip back to Chicago last week to meet with his advisors helped lay out the plan to have Rev. Wright reiterate all the negative hateful things he has said already but in a public forum. This way Obama could have a staged public breakup with Rev. Wright. This is so transparent. Rev. Wright gets the spotlight he craves and Obama can distance himself from his Achilles Heel. Of course the pro-Obama prepaid media machine is praising this move as the best thing ever. We all know what's going on!

Too little, too late Obama. I can't help but wonder how members of Trinity Church of Christ feel now. They were sold out by their very own superstar church member.
It never ceases to amaze me what people will do for convenience. I hope Rev.Wright comes out swinging. He doesn't strike me as someone who can stay quiet.

where does one 'choose' to go to church? where your family went, where you feel at home. churches choose their pastors (at least in some protestant churches) Let's look at the endorsement McCain sought from Rev. Hagee, let's look at Hagee and Wright side by side -- http://www.cjr.org/campaign_desk/the_mccainhagee_connection_1.php
hate-mongering, gay-bashing apocalyptic visions would be right at home in the Taliban, Mr. Hagee (and by extension, Mr. McCain)
If the media is going to force this on us day after day, while Rome burns, then let's have this conversation, as a nation. are we a theocracy or a secular state? how do we have a moral country without being repressive (any fool can say their piece, First Amendment rights and all). let's talk about science and faith, tolerance vs. intolerance, the old testaments vengeful god vs the new testaments love thy neighbor. let's get it all on the table and agree to disagree and move on to solving problems

Anybody who thinks this manufactured distraction is the slightest bit important is nothing more than a useful idiot. You are playing into the hands of corporate interests who are screwing America -- and fouling your children's future. Obama, Hillary and McCain all represent the Money Party -- they don't represent us, and they don't give a flip about real democracy.

Why would a black man, especially one who has railed for years about injustice and inequality towards his race, when it comes to crunch time, help keep a fellow black man from becoming president.
Easy. He's getting paid!

PELOSI, DEAN, REID, KENNEDY AND KERRY HAVE DESTROYED THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY. WE HAVE 50 STATES — NOT 48. I REALIZE PELOSI WANTS TO BE THE FIRST FEMALE PRESIDENT BUT SHE SHOULD NOT DESTROY THE PARTY IN THE PROCESS!
OBAMA DIDN’T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH WRIGHT UNTIL HIS POLL NUMBERS DROPPED! Obama has had plenty of opportunities, during this race, AND during the past 20 years, to do what he did on April 29, but Rev. Wright had never put Obama down before. That made him willing to turn against the pastor, who — a few weeks ago Obama said that he could never turn from. Obama will say anything to get what he wants.
Because he has now disrespected Obama, Obama is now willing to confront Wright’s horrible remarks — one by one. HE SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS AT LEAST A YEAR AGO! TOO LITTLE — TOO LATE.
Obama listened to and approved of Wright for 20 years. It’s impossible to believe that he never heard Wright’s radical rants. Obama is not that stupid. This is the very philosophy of the church that he has attended for years. If he has that much “blindness” on something as important as foundational philosophical beliefs of his own church, why would he think he could deal with crafty foreign leaders and run our country? OBAMA HAS RUN HIS ENTIRE CAMPAIGN ON LIES!
If you listen to Michelle Obama, it certainly sounds like she has heard and believed the teachings against America, that have been preached by her pastor. Don’t forget Obama’s ties to Ayers, Rezko, Farrakhan, Malcolm X, the Black Panthers, and many other anti-Americans and terrorists.
May God help us to have the grace and love to do what s right for our country — no matter what our skin color. Race is a factor — we are all members of the Human Race!
Hillary or McCain!

I am that effete, latte-sipping elitist that Hillary Clinton has programmed you to hate and fear. I live in Los Angeles on the left coast. Everything she says about me is probably true. Even more horrifying, I’m gay!!! So it’s only fair that I should have a chance to say something. Your future and the future of this country will really depend on how well you heed my words.
First of all, although I'm a white guy, I'm not really afraid of Rev. Wright. I just retired after spending a life time teaching in an inner city school in Los Angeles. Granted I resent some of Rev. Wright's comments, but then again, if I walked a quarter of a mile in his shoes, I might feel the same way. I've had plenty of experience with folks like Rev. Wright, and trust me, after spending a life time teaching in a 'hood nicknamed The Killing Fields, Rev. Wright was one of the least of my worries.
Secondly, I am really not to put off by Obama's comments either. You may not know about some of the criticisms Obama levels at the African-American community, or even the African American church. He constantly stresses the importance of self-reliance, hard work, education, and responsibility. When he criticizes his own community, even if he uses harsh words, he gets a standing ovation. So if he at times seems too harsh for your sensibilities, please understand where Obama is coming from.
With those two issues aside, let's talk about some ways our divergent life styles converge.
1. The current issue of the day is the high cost of fuel. Living in Los Angeles, I rely on public transportation for the most part. Even though LA's transit system isn't the best, my using it helps conserve gasoline. The less gasoline I use, the lower the price you'll have to pay. Currently only 7% of the people in LA use public transit. Supposing we could get 78% of the people in LA to garage their cars, supposing we could build public transport systems in other urban areas and persuade the effete elitist liberals living there to use public transportation. (They would if they had decent systems.) Wouldn't that bring you cheaper gasoline? In addition, if you fly over Los Angeles, you'll see a sea of roofs. What would happen to the cost of gasoline if we covered those roofs with solar energy collectors? Can you see how my lifestyle might help yours?
2. With the soaring price of gasoline, Iraq has taken a back burner. Yet while I am writing this, young Americans are still fighting and dying. Yesterday I went to see a documentary called Body of War which portrayed the day to day life of a severely paralyzed Iraqi war veteran. Of course the veteran in the movie was a hetero from a sort of conservative home in a conservative neighborhood in the Midwest, but are those differences that important. As I watched, I really had to struggle to keep from bursting into tears. Hillary Clinton could have stood up against the war. She could have said no. She didn't because her political career was more important, than 4,000+ lives being lost. As a liberal on the left coast, I always opposed the war even when it wasn't popular. So did Obama. Everything I said about the war back in the day has come true - in some cases it’s much worse than anything that I could have imagined. You can say that Obama should have walked out of Rev. Wright's church. Fine. But one died because of Obama's decision. Hillary voted for the war in Iraq, thousands of people have died because of Hillary's error in judgment. Incidentally, invading Iraq after 9/11 made as much sense as invading Brazil after Pearl Harbor. Yet this is a military decision Hillary endorsed. Does this sound like a competent commander-in-chief?
3. In spite of my so-called elitist reputation, I support unions. Reagan got history all wrong. He didn’t cause the fall of Communism. Working class unions did. (Check the history again.) I belong to UTLA and subscribe to USW at Work. I love what USW is doing. Maybe I prefer opera to bowling, but in the end, are my musical tastes really that important?
4. I believe in health care for everyone - with an emphasis on preventative health care. I've read horror stories about health problems in small town America as well as horrible work-place accidents. I'm bitter, angry and frustrated when I get this news. Is that un-American?
5. I believe in saving the environment. Albeit I will never go hunting, but the less deer I bag, the more deer for you to hunt. Is there anything wrong with that? Furthermore I know that we won't have any deer at all if we keep pimp slapping mother earth. That's what we're doing right now. In addition I hear all sorts of stories about tornadoes, floods, and hurricanes. In LA, of course, we're worried about drought. These are all by-products of global warming,
6. I'm tired of all the brouhaha over trivial pursuits. Look at the recent cover of Newsweek: arugula vs. beer. What's sort of crap is that? Yeah, I have rather exotic eating habits, but then I've got to be careful about my weight. I suspect Obama is facing the same problem. But the more careful I am about my weight and health, the less health care I need and to more health care for you and your family. Similarly the less meat, beer, pizza, bacon and eggs I consume - the more for you. Furthermore, if I spend more money and buy organic food, I'm helping support a family farm somewhere in America. Is there anything wrong with that? Why is Hillary fixating on non-issues?
7. Finally I'm sick and tired of Hillary painting me as unAmerican. Urban America has its problems as Obama himself will be the first to admit. But in LA, no one has a funny name, no one has a funny skin color, no one a funny background and no one has a queer sexual orientation because we all do, so we have to try to get along with each other. That strikes me as being much more American in spirit than a place were only the straight, white, and right have any claim to count themselves as human beings. And, right or wrong, that's the message I'm getting from Hillary.
Finally I need to break the truth. I don't care what pollsters say, Hillary is sure fire loser - for one reason only. She is engaging in fear and smear campaign. That's the only reason she's gaining ground. And her current success proves that fear and smear works. She may be riding high now, but trust me. After she wins the nomination, the GOP and the GOP media will use the same smear and fear tactics against her - and there will be nothing, absolutely nothing, she or any one else can do about it. Hillary doesn't realize what she's doing. The only person she seems to care about is herself. What sort of candidate is that?
There's only one way to save the Democratic party or this country, for that matter - Vote for Obama. A vote for Obama is a vote against the fear and smear tactics of Karl Rove, McCain, Dick Cheney, and the GOP.
The choice is yours. I'd advise you to think of everything Hillary promised you. If she wins the Democratic nomination, kiss it all goodby.
yours truly,
William Joseph Miller

" . . . let's get it all on the table and agree to disagree and move on to solving problems." j lee
As hard as the left tries to tie Hagee with McCain, there is simply NO COMPARISON! As a Christian, I do not agree with much of the theolgical thinking of Hagee: his naive blanket support for Israel, which is directly linked with his dispensational misinterpretations, his Pentecostalism, et al.
However, most of Hagee's (or even Parsley's) teaching Wesley, Spurgeon, or Luther could have preached (not all!): salvation by grace through faith, the divinity of Jesus Christ, the Triunity, masculine pronouns for God, the Second Coming, individual ownership and responsibility, the plenary inspiration and full authority of the Bible, etc. This is all mainstream, orthodox, Christian theology. Both Hagee and Parsley are patriotic Americans who love the nation enough to apply biblical morality (rejection of homosexual perversion) and call her back to the Faith of her beginnings.
This is a FAR CRY from Wright's far-left, Black nationalist, Farakanesque ideology. Liberation theology, which he clearly adheares to, is Marxist in origin, and is the prevailing thought-system of the religious left. It sees America just as he says: a racist, capitalist oppressor filled with rich white folks. This worldview is dedicated to the destruction of the Constitutional, biblically-based, free-enterprise capitalist, anti-Communist America. You can bet your weak Greenback dollar that Obama resonates widely with this view (regardless of his deceiving spins and denials).
We can no more solve America's problems with the brazen socialism of the Great Society, welfare state, and big-government entitlement programs, than we could 40 years, or 2 years ago. This is just what the new socialistic Democratic elite wish to do, whether their candidate be B.O. or Billary (Pinkie and the Brain). THIS is the "change" Obama transparently preaches!
Yes, lets DO get it all out on the table - which is just what Wright has done. Thank you sir! If we want to see a state dinner for Chavez and Castro in the White House in a year or so, then by all means vote Pinkie. If you want to attempt to rescue America from atheism, leftist ideology, and moral corruption then vote for McCain - but just in order to buy a few years to turn this thing around. But we just had 8 years and failed to do anything substantial. Now we are vulnerable to a red-dripping big-government takeover.
Yes, there are lots of problems, failures, and issues in today's American Dream culture; but only God has the answers in the Gospel of grace and the principles of Scripture. To embrace Wright's and Obama's pink populism is a big step in the demise of the free, Constitutional, and capitalist America we love and cherish. Change is defninitely needed! Just not THEIR version.
Well, this IS May Day after all! - you know, may poles, Chi-com missles, Venezuelan oil, and the UCC. A good day to "get it all on the table" - don't you think? And just 4 days till Cinco de Maio!

You know what I find totally astonishing...and it speaks for the people of this country...the people of this country would rather have a liar and crook (Paul vs. Clintons) pending in the state of California...for campaign fraud as we speak...then they would some person who had a pastor who had his opinions...not Baracks. Can you hypocrites really tell me that you havent known someone you disapproved of their ideas...but still kept them as friends because of other things..long as you didnt feel the same way. If you say no..you are liars...like Hillary. Oh and when she starts war with Iran...you go fight it...no reason Obama supporters should have to...you wanted her you believed in her...now you go fight for her and you die like our men in Iraq have. Hillary has no qualms who she sends to war thats obvious. I for one will never under any circumstances put a Clinton back in the White House. They are nothing but scandal upon scandal. And you worry about some pastor????? Pleaseeeeee....Well ask yourself..Hillarys pastor was just convicted of child molestation on a 7 year old child. Hmm now why did Hillary attend that church??? Surely she must have seen he was strange...You people better wake up...

Folks, nobody in their right mind with an IQ over 60 believes that Obama, with His own radical background and mother, did not resonate with Wright's lefist dribble the entire time he was sitting in the pew. If he has said otherwise, he lied through his nice white middle class teeth. Only those who just out-right refuse to see it believe he is a loyal, capitalist, Christian, Constituional American.
B.O. is, very simply, the far left Trojan Horse of the Democratic Party - dolled-up and prepped-up to look white middle class with a tan - the great Red Hope. But it's all a ruse, my friends. The far left has been itchin' to get in the Oval office for decades now. This is the Sixties Dream come true for them. It will be the Great American Nightmare if either of the dastardly duo gains the Presidency. The White House will become the Blight House and the America of the Founding Fathers, Balckstone and European culture will give way to tawdry third world revolutionaries who will finish the job that big-governemnt socialism has been working hard at for decades. Yes, let's do wake up! before it's too late.
