The Horse Park is a critical project for the future of Rockingham County. Tom Robinson has shown great leadership in promoting this project without growing frustrated at the lack of progress.
The county has several structural flaws in its tax revenue base, one of which is that they already miss out on 35 percent of the state average for sales tax revenue for a county of similar size. That missing tax base means the county struggles to pay for critical needs.
The Horse Park would go a long way in closing that gap due to increased retail activity from related businesses that develop (shops, hotels, restaurants)
If the county can land this deal, and get the proper development along US 220 on the other side of the county (along with the NC 68 connector from the airport) it will be well on its way to overcoming the massive layoffs and loss of industrial base suffered in the last decade.

The proposed Horse Park would attract visitors, vendors, and attendees throughout North Carolina as well as Virginia. It is strategically located near the border of Virginia which, along with North Carolina, has a large equine population. Since there is nothing even remotely similar to this proposed multi-plex horse park West of Raleigh, it would give an added boost to the economy of this area as well as the State. Children, parents, by-standers, vendors, trainers, and so on would utilize this park. Yehhhh for the Horse Park. It has been a long time in coming.

This is another waste of money, (peoples Money) If the private people wants this horse farm they should put up the money for it, we need more things in this county like jobs and a horse farm is not the answer,we need industry now not something that is going to be a liability to the people of this county and we do not need another study for this to happen we do not have jobs we are being taxed to the limit now because there is no industry look around the state has 2 (two) horse farms now and they cannot support their selfs now. How can we support something with tax money now.
