Not only Yankees, but the National Enquirer????
Will Bobby Labonte be kidnapped by aliens? Kyle involved in love triangle with the Olson twins?
It could get interesting.

No problem with it here - perhaps Boston Ventures can make them a competitor. Unfortunately, half their problem is personnel, and since Petty dictated that Loomis would still be in charge of that aspect, I wouldn't hold out much hope for a big turn-around anytime soon.

When I was in school we toured Petty's facilities in Randleman, and afterwards, as we re-boarded the bus, one student asked our professor a question that I still remember:

"Why doesn't Kyle step down? His performance has not been good recently and that isn't good for PE or his team in general."

Honestly? I think the only reason Kyle still races is because he can use that exposure to promote his real interest - Victory Junction Gang Camp. That's awesome, and I think it's Kyle's true calling. It's become obvious that he really doesn't enjoy racing - it would be difficult for him to fully embrace a sport that claimed the life of his son and in which he was always overshadowed by his father's reputation and greatness that he couldn't live up to.

I think the time has finally come for Kyle to step down. That would open up a slot for a more competitive driver like Jamie McMurray who will likely be leaving Roush-Fenway at the end of the year. Had they also not sold majority ownership of the team to Boston Ventures, PE might have been able to attract the interest of a higher tier driver like Tony Stewart, who has openly expresses his displeasure for Joe Gibbs Racing after they stonewalled his inquiry to partial ownership at JGR.

I am leery of this investment deal. As a lifelong Petty fan it saddens me that its come to this. It also saddens me that the future of so many Petty employees, not to mention the morals and values the Pettys have always stood for could be changed at the whim of big business. I always have admired the Pettys for no alcohol sponsorships and for being choosy about what is associated with their names. Now Im not so sure that anything and everything goes since Boston Ventures runs the show. Time will tell.
