I heard about the tomato "recall" literally an hour after making the most awesome fresh Gazpacho from a tray of beautiful Roma tomatoes. Thankfully they were the ones with the stem still attached and were not included in the warning. I rarely have tomatoes at restaurants, because they rarely serve a decent tomato. With the exception of Harpers who makes a killer Gazpacho and Capreze salad. But I will miss them at the grocery stores. I LIVE for tomatoes. Tomatoes ARE summer. What else am I gonna do with all my homegrown basil? However, I get most of my tomatoes from the Triad Farmer's Market anyway and hopefully they'll still be there in abundance.
