Just look at the state of the country and make your own decision. Coble has been there for 24 years so he is one of the causes of problems.
Remember the Rep. were in power Pres.8 years, Congress, Senate for 12 years and the country has gone down hill at record speed.
I found a gas receipt from 7/6/00 (Clinton was Pres.) for 13.397 gallons of gas $20. Now the same amount with Bush (an oil man) $52.11 that is a increase of 260% +/-.Be your own judge.

Nice comment Paul. Shows how little you know about anything! Your favorite Dems took over two years ago. Gas has more than doubled since then (and Obama predicts $12 a gallon - I guess that's the solution you want!). But that really has nothing to do with the issue. Let's see...I'll bet you aren't in favor of drilling, or refineries, or ANYTHING that would reduce our dependency on foreign oil.

Howard has done a good job representing the interests of his district. He's a good man. Congrats Howard on a great run!!

I agree with Ed. Howard Coble has done a great job within his district. He certainly can't be to blame for the oil problems this country is facing. It goes way beyond Howard Coble, so Paul needs to get with reality and quit playing the blame game. Many of the things that we have endured are due to the democratic party, so check your facts. Last time I checked Nancy whatever her name is doesn't want us to drill, so the democrats must like paying $4 for a gallon of gas and don't mind the high rising oil prices and the dependency of oil from the Middle East. Back to Howard, this guy cares about the community and he has gotten the job done. If you need assistance he will be there or will find the answer for you. When Howard moves on his shoes will be tough to fill I can tell you that. Congrats Howard!

I think Rep. Coble has done a fine job serving his constituents, myself included. I have called his office to complain about an issue and received a call back from a staffer who was more than willing to hear my point of view and share the Congressman's concerns with me. However, I am worried about the number of terms that he has served. The Constitution specifies that a term is for 2 years, to me that suggests that the aim of the framer's of the Constitution was to have more people run and serve as a representative because the time requirement was so little relative to other aspects. I understand that's why we have elections, but I think it's probably time for some new blood, fresh ideas, and a fresh face so that one person's viewpoint doesn't become the de facto standard for the entire region he or she represents. That said, I congratulate Congressman Coble on his service to our area, State, and this Nation.

The point now that you are thinking a little bit. I am not Dem or Rep. I vote Independent.
Rep. blame Dem and Dem blame Rep.
Rep. were in power for 12 years did you see anything change? Any reforms on the things they blame the Dem. for. Now the Rep. want to blame the dem. for banning off shore drilling. They could have changed that years ago. Rep. house and President. Now the Dems. are in and nothing will change. Until people like those defending anything the Rep. or Dems do it will not get better and we deserve what we get. Example vote for a bond to pass then complain because your taxes went up. As Johnny Depp said "Americans are the dumbest people on earth" He is correct because after he said that Americans still support him by watching his movies.
WAKE UP.

I am not sure what kind of job Rep. Coble has done but it is time for him to retire. I think 24 years is long enough. Sometimes that is the problem; they stay in office too long. He is 77 years old and I think at his age he should be wanting to retire.

Whit said:

I've known Howard for many, many years. This country would do well to have people with his understanding in Washington, DC. Not only has he served the people of North Carolina with honor and dignity but he served our nation with service in the military for many years.
