...dear God, I hope it's the end of his public career! He should get a job and pay back the money his supporters sent him.

Now this shows Character. Let's see wife dying of Cancer... what shall I do.. I know I'll Have an affair as she goes through Chemo!
Democrats think the world is their pearl... Jesse Jackson fathers child out of wedlock,
Bill Clinton has affair in white house.
Yeah, just the type of leadership and character we want out children to follow.
Yes and lets hold them up as the standard bearer(s) of our country........ Geez..... somebody help us! Beam me up Scotty

This kind of stupidity is neither Republican nor Democrat. It's purely human ignorance...both parties have their equal share.

He was starring in his own movie, living out his Jack Kennedy fantasies, and had an affair with his director. Happens all the time.

For this women to be living in shifting luxury accomodations in various locales under assumed names including in NC raises very serious doubts about his paternity denials and raises the question of misuse of political monies.

One gets the feeling we won't have John Edwards to kick around anymore.

J Harrelson said:

It has nothing to do with republican or democrat-All caused by selfishness!! He was'nt thinking of his wife, nor his children. It's a shame where lust will take a man. It has cost him his family and his career but most importanly his character! More of a shame that the other person would consider herself a women!! It's these kind of people is why we as a nation need to teach our children of Jesus, the only true leader!!

Don't you know that Johnny was just explaining his anti-poverty program to this unwed mother??

Seriously, let's hope that this is the end of his public career. He is not respected in NC. He couldn't even deliver his hometown of Robbins in the last election.

skeet club savage said:

I, for one, am also very comforted by the fact that he related he doesn't love the women. Let's keep it tawdry, thank you very much.

Ted said:

Well, the suit turns out not to be empty after all. It had some sperm in it. Sadly, I am not even surprised. He did nothing for us as Senator, just spending all his time running for President beginning day one. Now he has managed to lower even my respect for him! He has no where to go but up but it is a long hard climb.

Gatecity Keeper said:

He's free to go back to being an ambulance chasing attorney.

I'm a little confused by the question though, just what public policy did he ever set? As others said he spent his short time in the Senate running for President. I doubt he knows where the Senate Chamber is located.

Flight105 said:

Nah. His political career was shot before this came to light. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

John Edwards = Phony Baloney

Bunny said:

John Edwards is a disgrace to his family, a disgrace to NC, and a disgrace to the Democratic party. He's right though... there ARE two Americas - one with morals and honesty and one containing the scum of the Earth. Welcome to the second one, John.

S said:

The man is "one inch wide.......one inch deep". I guess his "loyal" supporters feel good now. No, he is not politically washed up. The Dems are notorious for resurrecting their used garbage. (Clinton, Kennedy, need I Go on?)

S said:

Forgot this famous quote "I think this president has shown a remarkable disrespect for his office, for the moral dimensions of leadership, for his friends, for his wife, for his precious daughter. It is breathtaking to me the level to which that disrespect has risen."

Amanda said:

People are imperfect. They make mistakes and selfish decisions. But this bad choice has nothing to do with his political life. Edwards owes no one an explaination but his family -- and clearly his wife has made peace with the betrayal.

This should hardly be the end of his political life.

Paul said:

Just shows the real person a lawyer and politician. What would you expect. A liar and
thief. There you have it

Paul said:

I want add that I hope the justice dept. charges the lawyer in Texas with embezzling money to send $7 million plus to Johns boy and girl friend.O
If they do it will cost the tax payer (us) $70 million to investigate and prosecute.

Joe Blow said:

Well, at least for today, probably no one thinks John Edwards is gay.
Maybe that is what he is really trying to hide.

AMOSFLOYD said:

I wonder how John would "treat" this case if he were a lawyer involved. He would make this cheating, self-serving husband's day in court a living hell. What does this word "liaison" mean. Is this a lawyers definition of adultery while your wife is dying of cancer. Sounds like this is the kind of man we would "want" in the white house. He is what he has always been; a sleazy lawyer who would do anything or anybody to make a buck. Remember one of his "rain-maker" cases when he told the jury he had a "vision" about the case? I expect he had one in this situation, lying to those who trusted him and the "words" he spoke. I wouldn't be surprised if he shows up at the Democratic Convention. He stll thinks his words (as they have in the past) will get him out of this mess. He had visions. Why would he build a 25,000 sq. ft. house for a family of four?
Visions of a "presidential retreat"? He used his wife's illness to promote his candidacy. His most recent act again proves the type of scumbag he is.

In response to Amanda's comment:
Edwards cheated on his wife that has TERMINAL CANCER. I am sure his wife is not as "at peace" with it as you say. Adultery is something the victim is never OK with. That's what I expect her to say. I wouldn't expect her to cuss him out in the media. What a slap in the face. This isn't a mistake. A mistake is a one time thing. Having an affair is not a mistake. Its a choice. I love how he says the affair was when she was in remission two years ago...Really?? Then why were you with your mistress in a hotel last month? This should be the end of his political career. He made a horrible, cruel decision that will just add to the stress of his wifes condition. Like I said....This wasn't a mistake....This was a choice, and that's not the type of decision maker I want involved in public policy.

Tony Moschetti said:

Excuse me but, what "political career?" He was a one term senator who lied about being a moderate to get elected, and almost immediately (just like the current empty suit, lightweight, first term senator running for president. At least this one has a built in constituency to get off the ground!) began, laughingly, running for president even though he couldn't get re-elected to his senate seat.

He tried twice for the presidency but he couldn't even win primaries in his own state, finishing a dismal third this year. Of course being a far left loon made him the darling of the dishonest, corrupt elite media who are no more than shameless shills for the Demo-Rats.

This lying, hypocritical Charlatan should thank his lucky stars that he's a Demo-Rat. This will make him even more beloved to the lunatic left!

brian444 said:

The bad thing is that he's still lying. His campaign manager just decided to help a friend with no knowledge on Edwards's part? Please. The affair was over in 2006? Then why the late night rendezvous a few weeks ago. Personally, I'd lay 5-1 odds on his being the father of the child, but I expect the paternity test will end up being too "painful" for his suffering and rhetorically useful wife. Although he correctly identifies himself as an egotistical narcissist and properly invites people to beat up on him, the rest of his statement is just baloney.

Barbara said:

He has always been a liar.He needs to go back to his big house and stay.

VA Tarheel said:

Did this end Clinton's career? This will only enhance him and keep him in the spotlight.

Curtis said:

I doubt this will hurt Edwards's political career because Demoncrats have no ethics anyway. It's all moral-relativism with them. I bet Edwards is now a shoo-in for the VP slot. If only he went to an Anti-American church for 20 years he would be the presidential nominee.

Mary said:

Why is he any different than anybody else
that has Senator, Governor, or Mayor
in front his name? Clinton is still being
talked about today because of what he
did and he was sure alot better president
than some we have had. If Edwards and
his wife can work this out between the TWO
of them, then it is nobody elses business.
He should still be in politics if he choses. He
got caught, and if the truth were known, he
is not the only Senator that had an affair.
And some probably still are. Edwards has
to work this out with his family only. Not his family and the world.

Carolyn Early said:

The only surprise here is that supposedly Elizabeth knew about this and yet she helped him deceive Americans that he was a moral, family, man. I frankly lost respect for her, as well, for going along with the deception. Enough with these two phonies. Close the drapes and disappear. Don't try to inflict any more fraud on us! America won't stand for another disgusting Clinton mess, get off the stage permanently!

PLEASE LET THE PEOPLE ON A FIXED INCOME, HAVE THE FREE PILLS. MOST OF THEM CAN'T AFFORD THE PILL'S ANY WAY. AND THEM CUTTING THEIR MED'S IN HALF TO MAKE THEM LAST LONGER. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. PLEASE DON'T TAX THE DR'S. THEY HAVE ENOUGH TO PAY OUT OF POCKET AS IT IS. FREE PILL'S FREE PILL'S. LET THEM HAVE THEM.

Jim donald said:

Darn, if you can't trust an ambulance chasing Decmocratic Senator who can you trust?

Bunny said:

Elizabeth Edwards has said she's proud of her husband's courage for being honest. Did he have a choice? A caged rat eventually learns there's no way out.

brian444 said:

Oh dear. Despite John's eagerness to prove he's not the father of his love child, Rielle decides there will be no paternity test. It really angers me that John won't be able to clear his name in the matter.

skeet club savage said:

I agree with Curtis. It's a good thing. At least Republican's have ethics or where would we be?

I am curious to see how much the liberal media*, will call for a federal investigation? Seems there may be a 3-8 million dollar pay off with campaign funds. Last I heard that was against the law! Wonder where the IRS is ?
* My guess is none.
