fyi -- speaking from my extensive experience and perspective as a venue consulting specialist (amphitheaters, arenas, performing arts centers),
you may not need much, if any, financial contribution from taxpayers for an amphitheater
if certain things exist or can be accomplished --
among these thing is (a) a wisely designed and built facility; (b) a large enough seating capacity to be a commercial success -- changes and trends within the concert, venue and promoter industries that impact what that best minimum capacity should be have been going on in somewhat dramatic fashion over the last five years or more -- many are surprised by the direction of those trends -- programming potential, market positioning and sponsorship support are most important issues for such a project -- good luck -- j h nicholson

Dear J.H. Nicholson,
Perhaps you should get a job with the Greensboro Colliseum.
