So, what? Our choices are limited to:

1. Accommodating the partying drunks downtown,
or
2. Turning the city into a ghost town

There are businesses making a lot of money from
plying crowds with too much alcohol. Maybe they
should be paying for increased security. But if we
have to use scarce taxpayer money, let's start
with some DWI checkpoints!

It's a downtown. Just like any other downtown in America. You people think it's some sort of sin-laden riot the way you talk about this. Are there thousands of intoxicated pedestrians or dozens of injuries happening on a regular basis? I didn't think so. Stop making mountains out of molehills. Get real!

Perhaps some type of public/ private partnership is in order. 1. Party buses running between colleges, universities, large apartment complexes and downtown ie Mass Transit- public. 2. A designated driver program offering free club entrance or restaurant meal vouchers- private. Add this to limited street access and increased public safety presence and downtown might get busier yet safer. The visitors from out of town are another issue. For better or worse the market will work this out.

Great..let's hope so. I am sick to death of hearing about muggins, home invasions and crime all over Greensboro. The police should be visible and a great presence not only downtown but all over Greensboro.I had to catch a train one early morning at 3:45 a.m. and the "ILK" of weirdos and "rif Raf" wandering in the station" asking for handouts and money(and these were young guys)was astonishing...AND NOT A POLICEMAN IN SIGHT! WHERE ARE YOU? THE POLICE NEED TO BE VISIBLE AND WHERE THE ACTION IS..IT'S ABOUT TIME.
