District 1: Bellamy-Small to face Clinkscale
From a piece of our story detailing the District 1 race tomorrow:
The election marked another point in the trying two-year term for Bellamy-Small.She was accused of leaking a confidential police report to the media and intimidating a police officer who pulled her for speeding.
She has denied both charges, and said Tuesday that she hoped some of the distractions "that have beset me in my second term do not follow me into a third term."
"All we have is allegations," she said, "and none of them have ever been proven."
I heard two interpretations of the results in District 1 tonight.
First: Bellamy-Small was obviously helped by backlash in her district against the recall. I heard that backlash first-hand when I went out to the polls this afternoon.
But: Bellamy-Small pulled 701 votes according to unofficial returns. If you add second-place finisher Tonya Clinkscale's vote to that of third-place finisher Luther Falls', you get 947. The thought is that Falls' supporters won't be going over to Bellamy-Small and will largely choose to back Clinkscale.
But here's a "but" of my own: The general election will be a different animal. You will have more voters coming out, for the mayoral election if nothing else. You'll be dealing with a new electorate. Tonight's results can’t be taken for an absolute auger of things to come.

In a previous blog response, I did state that the
District One race will be still be considered as
the RECALL intitiative.
In previous comments, made by the incumbent,
and her supporters. That they didn't appreciate
"outsiders" to interfere with their district, claiming that the person who inititiated the recall petition,
didn't live in the district.
The fact, that the person who inititiated the recall
petition, owns a business in the district. That
doesn't disqualify him to have acted reasonable
under his constitutional rights.
And the recall initiative wasn't because of race.
Although, the incumbent, the Pulpit Forum, and
supporters, makes such claims. The fact, that
those mentioned above, couldn't face the reality,
that it was the conduct of Bellamy-Smalls chacrac-
ter, that ignited the flame.
My perception of thought, when reading Bellamy-
Smalls webs, shows heritage pride. I like that.
What I don't like, is how it invokes a prejudicial
tone of racial incitement.
I commend those who go out of their way to help with Bellamy-Small's campaign, those who have
voted for her. What spell does she have them
under?
District One needs a new representative! Bellamy-Smalls has had four years of service, that
has not produced any visible changes. The district is trashed by neglect. (Which of course,
she going blame the "other people" for it.) Crime
is escalating, and the safety of its' people is taking
it's toll. No new business opportunities have become evident, to insure a strong economical
infrastructure.
Bellamy-Smalls rants about her being the victim of
social injustice. I beg to differ. It is her constituency that are the victims of social injustice. When her "leadership" has neglected to heed the needs of this community. Her claimed
accomplishments has thwarted the growth of this
neglected community.
