Vote 2007

How low can turnout go?

This low: 7.2 percent of registered voters.

I expected a much bigger turnout. Maybe that's coming on Nov. 6.

The low turnout is amazing! People gripe and gripe and then they don't get out and vote. They say they want a change and the only way to get things changed is to VOTE!

I was working for my candidate, Marikay Abuzuaiter at Bur-Mil, and the turn out was very low during my time there. This is America and we have a right to vote, but what is it about us? Are we lazy or do we just not care?

Another thing bothers me, why do the people with a lot of financial support nearly always get the endorsements and the votes?

Whomever we want to serve us, regardless of their campaingn money, let's vote for them! Of course, Marikay Abuzuaiter has my vote and I think people should take a good look at what she has to offer. She is a go-getter with a great vision for our community!

I guess, if we had to put dollar signs, so signify
that these candidates will be dealing with their
finances, now; and their finances, later. I bet they would lines out the door. Remember the 2003
baseball park referendum? Also, the 2006, bond
referendums?

When I asked a friend why he didn't go and vote.
His reply was, that it didn't make a difference,
because the same people get elected, and they do the same things, whether we (the voters) have anything to do with anything.

I pointed out to him this. Do you think that the
Greensboro Police Department is corrupt? Do you like driving to work on West Wendover Avenue, and having bumper to bumper traffic? Do
you like coming home without any water? Things of this nature. He looked at me as if I was the crazy one! I said, you're the crazy one! Because only a few cared to vote, you might not have a chance to take the shower one of these days! You'll be too busy stuck in traffic, and some cop
will give you a ticket for loitering!

I think he's going to vote in the early election
process. Good!
