In District One

I've been snooping around the various polling places this afternoon. Frankly, I've felt like the Maytag Repairman a lot of the time. There haven't been a whole lot of poll workers out and about.

So I was delighted to run into Glenda Clark and Constance Williams down at Vandalia Presbyterian Church in District 1. The two women were handing out literature for T. Diane Bellamy-Small.

Williams said it wasn't Bellamy-Small's positions that won her over. Rather, it was the failed recall attempt earlier this year.

"What I didn't like was someone outside this district coming in and calling a recall," Williams said after finding a shady patch of parking lot outside the church. She continued later, "That's like somebody coming in my house and trying to get me out."

Click here to listen to her full comments, and Clark chime in. (About 90 seconds.)

Boy, Bellamy-Smalls, sure got these people thinking the way she does. Always blaming it on someone else. Or some other race/ethnic, (particularly, white folk).

People! It was the conduct of her character that led to the RECALL!! It had nothing to do about her race!

And it doesn't matter what district you live in. You
can, and have the constitutional right to call a
recall, as long as the voters in THAT district, meet the required amount of registered voters to complete the petition. Evidently, Bellamy-Smalls didn't tell her supporters that! She just made them believe that the "white folks" are after her.
Only because, Florence Gatten called for her
resignation. Then the powers that be, in the black community called "foul!"

I really would like to see the people of District One, take a good look around their district, and tell us what has changed in the four years that that
person, who claims to be the voice of that district, has done. Nothing. All she did, was go here, spoke there, showed her face here, and her face there. Then she goes to the city council meetings
sharing her daily itinerary, which to me, she should be on a time limit.

Anyway, Mark, this district needs a new representative.

Oh, by the way. I wonder if those two supporters was "compensated" to work for her?
