Voting begins

In a gold sweatsuit, Roy Richardson said his fashion choice was sending a statement in the race for mayor early Tuesday morning.

"When we elect Yvonne Johnson mayor, Greensboro will enter the golden age of proserity," the 59-year-old said as he walked into Bluford Elementary School to vote.

Voters were out early at Bluford. By 7:30 a.m., 55 people had already voted, the precinct's chief judge Al Hayes said.

Katrina Burton wasn't using fashion to send a message. But she was also supporting Johnson over Milton Kern.

"She has the experience to be mayor," Burton, 34, said.
