"Fix Or Repair Daily"

Another example of why Ford deserves its sarcastic -- and surely unofficial -- slogan.

There's quite a few of those 'unofficial slogans' for good old Ford. The one that always stuck out in my head was something unrepeatable here involving a Rebuilt Dodge.

But the best car I've ever owned was a 1984 "Found On Road Dead" Escort Diesel. Yes, I said diesel. No airconditioning. No tape player. Couldn't do more than 55 on the Interstate. But it got 48 miles to the gallon and there wasn't a darn thing I could do to kill it. And it was a standard so it forced me to learn how to drive one of those, too. Best car I could ever imagine a 16-year-old having. Got it from my sister for like $400.

Figured I'd pad our comments section out a bit Eric.

Eric,

I've always been partial to Ford and had no problems with a mid 90's Explorer we recently got rid of.

The Taurus we currently have was recalled for a minor fix, other'n that, it's been a great car.

Little outdated in it's styling but we were happy to buy it a few years ago to help keep the old economy rolling along and keep our UAW brethren gainfully employed.

Jon,

I'm no fan of Ford vehicles, but I'll grant you their negative reputation is sometimes undeserved. How to reimage as a domestic manufacturer, with quality that surpasses foreign imports, is beyond me.
