Starting Monday (4/10), part of Greensboro's McConnell Road will be closed for much of the next several weeks so city contractors can install sewer lines. The road will be closed to through traffic between South English Street and Willow Road from Monday through next Thursday, April 13. It will be reopened for the Easter weekend, then closed again until the project is completed April 28.

Local traffic and emergency vehicles will be able to use the road during the closures. Detours will be posted for other drivers, GDOT says.

State DOT says it will be closing several northbound lanes of I-40/85 in Alamance County on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Lanes will be closed overnight for resurfacing from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., between Huffman Mill Road and NC 49. Though narrowed, the road will remain open for northbound travel during repairs.

Bicycling in Greensboro will hold its monthly meeting Wednesday evening at 7 at Cycles de Oro bike shop, 1410 Mill St. The meeting includes a discussion of the city Metropolitan Planning Organization's new BiPed effort, a 25-year plan to improve biking and pedestrian access. A video on the World Bicycle Relief program also will be shown.

The right, westbound lane of West Wendover Avenue will be closed at various times during the next several weeks between Edwardia Drive and Interstate 40. The closure is for sidewalk construction.
