State highway officials will be closing a section of Lewiston Road near Summerfield for the summer starting next Monday (6/12) to replace the existing bridge over Brush Creek.
The stretch between Jessup Grove and Pleasant Ridge roads is slated to reopen in early September.
Until then, starting Monday, through traffic will be detoured on a route that includes Pleasant Ridge, Carlson Dairy, Horsepen Creek and Jessup Grove roads. More info? DL Fergusson at 334-3228
Part of Hines Chapel Road will be closed for about seven weeks to improve a bridge a half-mile west of Rankin Mill Road.
Starting Monday (6/12), traffic will be detoured onto Rankin Mill, Briarmeade and McKnight Mill roads until early August. More info? Barry Kizziah, 375-5589
Meeting in Raleigh last week, the state Board of Transportation approved $13.4 million in Triad road projects.
Board members approved $7.9 million to upgrade the I-40/Harper Road interchange (east of the Yadkin River) in Forsyth to a diamond configuration. Start date - 6/26. Completion - July 2008.
The board also agreed to pay $5.5 million to replace the Meadow Road bridge over the Smith River in Eden. Work to begin in September, end in late 2008.
Both jobs went to Mount Airy contractor Smith-Rowe Inc.
Crews will be installing new pipe along Old Hillsborough Road in Alamance County for two weeks, starting next Monday (6/12). The road will be closed just west of Mebane Oaks Road during that time.
Detour = Jones Drive to Cook Street to Mebane Oaks and back to Old Hillsborough Road, and reverse for travel in opposite direction. Target completion date -- Friday, 6/23. More info? Call JL Cornell, 570-6818
The city of Greensboro has closed a heavily traveled section of Hilltop Road this week to link the new pavement to the new bridge over Bull Run Creek. The old bridge will then be demolished.
The road was shut down last week between Bridford and Adams Farm parkways. It is expected to reopen late Friday afternoon (6/9).

A short stretch of Sandy Ridge Road will be closed for the rest of the summer starting this Friday (6/9). Highway crews will be replacing the bridge over the Deep River, requiring the closure between Squire Davis Road and Johnson Street.

The roundabout will close for seven hours or less so city transporation crews can put the last coat of asphalt on the roundabout.
Traffic on North Elm will be detoured on Old Lake Jeannette Road to Church Street and Air Harbor Road. Detour for Lake Jeanette Road is New Garden Road, Lawndale Drive and Air Harbor Road. The roundabout will reopen no later than 4 p.m., city officials say.
