Swastika for good luck?
The swastika, for recent generations, symbolizes hate and anti-Semitism because of Nazi atrocities.
But long before Hitler made it a symbol of death and murder, it was used for centuries as a symbol of good luck by the Hindus, Buddhists and other traditions. In other words, it was hijacked.
Those groups want to reclaim the 5,000-year-old symbol, which along with other Nazi symbols, are banned in Germany.
Am I the only one wondering if this is a bad idea?

Actually, I think it would be a good idea to get past the equation of all Nazi symbols with "evil." The Germans used eagles in many of their symbols, yet we aren't keen on taking eagles out of our national symbols. Why should we look down on a Hindu who sees his swastika in the same way we would view an upturned horse shoe?

Bring back the 6 million Jews and others who were murdered by the Nazis, and i'll consider it.
That's the thing- you can't change history.
It is against people's freedoms to have it banned, and it shouldn't be.
But just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should.
Basically, so the swastika used to be a good luck charm -big deal. You can't ignore what it symbolized in WWII.

Hindu used Swastika symbol to start any prayer and any hindu temple, but the sybmol is not exactly Swastika symbol it is little different and flow of the sybmol is reverse of nazi's sybmol. Also the sybmol is used straight not tilted as shown..
