Pope John Paul II, 1920-2005
"This is not just about his being Catholic. I don't know that we are not safer because he walked the earth."

While it is a time of grieving for the homegoing of Pope John Paul II, we must remember that he sought for factions outside the Roman Catholic Church to reconcile.
While Pope John Paul II is viewed as a reconciler, we must remember that there are still factions within the RCC that are at odds with one another. We must remember that prelates of Vatican II in the early 1960s have been reversed by Pope John Paul II. What the RCC needs even more now is one who will seek the outer reconciliation that he did AND to work to bring the RCC back together as a more united whole.
I say this because I have countless numbers of friends and acquaintances that have left the RCC due to the actions of Pope John Paul II.
I say here at his homegoing what I have said while he still walked on this earth. While I admire his deep spiritual nature, I do/did not agree with the postions he took.
Yet, as a fellow Christian brother, I am saddened to lose one here on earth. May he rest in the warmth and love of the Creator God whom he served faithfully for over 60+ years.
