OK, I like CeCe Winans, but last year when she brought the "free" Throne Room tour to the Spirit of Faith Christian Center in Temple
Hills, Md., Pastor Mike Freeman insisted that people give "offerings" to defray her costs. So, while I enjoyed CeCe and certainly would have had no problem paying to see her sing if I had been asked in advance to do so, I did not appreciate being told it was "free" only to be asked for money to help pay for her performance.

I attended her Throne Room concert at a church last year, with the church paying the costs. I don't remember an appeal for a "love offering" or anything. She did make a pitch for giving to one of those save-the-children organizations and of course, there were lots of CDs for sale. You could pay for a reserved seat and get the chance to mingle with her and the other performers. I was in the free line....

It didn't leave a bad taste in my mouth about CeCe, but it did sour me on that church (which took in, I think, $25K that day for the "free" concert and he seemed to suggest that the people who gave $1K or larger donations would be blessed more than others) and to this day when my friend invites me to attend her church services and prattles on and on about her pastor, I am dumbfounded because he just struck me as a shyster. But then, I'm always skeptical, some might even say cynical.

I should note that this pastor I am referencing has a private plane and a Bentley.

Can I get on a mailing list or something so I'll know when she comes to North Carolina again. I would be willing to go see her. Someone told me that she was coming to do a Sister sister assembly, fair or something. Something to do with young girls and youth. Anyone heard anything like that?
