A camp with a different calling

"We're serving as a night light in a dark and scary room."

Besides all the horseback riding and outdoor survival techniques, this camp teaches it's OK not to believe in a supreme being.

Wow, finally a camp for Eric to send his children to...

What a bunch of copy cats. :)

Eric said:

Yeah, too bad my son is too old to be a camper. But he and I might end up volunteering to be counselors at the Smoky Mountain camp some summer.

ABC had a report on the camp last Sunday morning, but TV-45 was too busy showing "Body by Jake." Oh well...

Of course, it is not a good thing to teach kids that Jesus is not God.

I tried to find the ABC report but couldn't...but I'll look for that camp and add the link. Are there others? Anybody out there been to one? Not that it's that different in most of its structure, but what of it as a place to be with 'likeminded' individuals?

You know, there's no real need to get in a twist over this camp. I expect that beyond the lessons in logic, there's virtually nothing at these camps that you'd object to. I have read, for instance, that each camp claims to have a pair of invisible unicorns as mascots, and they offer a prize to any camper who can prove the mascots don't exist.

I don't mind the camp. Just stirring the pot. But logic is not exclusively an athiestic virtue...

Sue said:

Nancy, this camp is certainly interesting, but don't you think that this camp deserves some of our atention?

Nancy McLaughlin said:

Yes and thanks for the update. We were blogging on this on another day. I wondered if people thought parents had the right to put their kids through something like that. For those of you who want the rest of the story, click on Sue's link.
