Simon Wiesenthal did great work for justice but do we also honor the very different path chosen by the Dalai Lama? Ten of thousands of Buddhist in Tibet were slaughtered by the Chinese but they chose the path of forgiveness. Is forgiveness ever more powerful than justice?

So, should we throw out our system of justice?

I sure hope not. However, I think a little wisdom could be added to improve the overall product. It would be nice, if we could only figure out how.

Nancy,
Your comment is not unusual in a conversation about forgiveness. Why does bringing forgiveness into some balance with justice cause so many to think that anyone is suggesting throwing out justice. Jesus talked about forgiveness in very radical ways. Can we in our world even find a little room for forgiveness?

I probably tend to see justice and then forgiveness, as opposed to seeing them go hand in hand, or forgiveness first. I think there are probably a lot of people who rationalize justice that way.
