From the article:
"...homosexuality is widely seen as a disease spread by the United States and Israel to corrupt Arabs and undermine their religious faith."
That sounds about what one might expect. I wonder what these people would have blamed this on before America became a world power? Or before the Crusades? It's always easy to pick a problem and blame it on your worst enemy, regardless of whether it's reasonable to do so. Americans do that all the time.
I just think it's a shame that here in America, we also have a widespread prejudice against gays. Then again, we have no shortage of things to be ashamed of here, do we?

There are highly intelligent Muslims (I say that to distinguish those who might say only kooks believe this way) here in America who believe this. In light of the Tuskegee Experiment, there are also intelligent African Americans who believe the CIA made crack to decimate the black community. Then there are...wait, there's no shortage of these! I guess mistrust (culturewise, religionwise, etc) is one of the things we all have in common, huh?

It's called xenophobia, and it is a problem that all cultures seem to propagate. I recall once I was walking with my family through Starmount... a car came up behind us, apparently a resident. We were a group of 4 white adults, dressed in jeans and t-shirts, yet we heard the car doors lock up before the car passed us. Apparently, we were alien enough to make the driver want to protect himself from folks who were just out for a summer evening stroll.
No matter where you find it, it is sad.
