Just wondering
Using the judge's logic, should the Bible be removed as well, since Christians can just as easily affirm they'll tell the truth without a Bible?

Actually, you're right. "The" Bible isn't required in court. Most states don't use it. My lawyer friends (from out of state) are stunned when I tel them of this controversy that doesn't have to be. We can all affirm and be done with this.

Using a religious document to swear upon should not be an option for testifing in a court of law. For true separation of church and state, an affirmation that one will tell the truth should be sufficient. Since I find truth and meaning in all religious writings, I would have trouble chosing which one to use. But,using a religious document to swear upon will not change the fact that as a person of character I will not knowingly lie. Therefore, affirming to tell the truth is enough. Using a religous text to swear upon does not change a person's character--they are either going to tell the truth or they are going to lie regardless of whether they swear or affirm.

..personally I applaud the decision.We where founded on Christian beliefs, I for one feel we have taken this diversification ideology off the cliff.We must be inclusive,most diffidently but to completely shun our beginnings so as not to offend someone..childish.Is swearing on the Bible going to make someone tell the truth..right..

A wise choice not to allow the Koran as the official book of Faith in our court rooms. These days the usage of the Bible is more cultural rather than religious in nature and, as noted above, Christians can lie, or tell the truth, just as easily with or without swearing on the Bible.
My concern with the Koran is that sooner or later a Muslim will say that since he/she swore on the Koran that they do not have to follow the secular rule of the state. It is well to remember that most Muslims believe that the Koran is a direct message from God.

What makes an object sacred ???? Be it a cloth, goblet, cross, Full Moon on a cold winters night;
Hmmmm, The only thing that makes any item sacred is our own belief in them..
It matters not what book or text we claim as our own holy grail,
EVERYONE has a path... The big question is are you open enough and strong enough to follow your path without condemning another for not believing as you do?

This controversy is just another attempt to relegate the Word of God to a peripheral role in our society by arguing for usage of the Koran - and rabbits feet, new moons or the Humanist Manifesto. This mad rush of liberal inclusivists to allow the use of the Koran is a naive tactic to further marginalize Christianity. If they think for one moment that Islam will tolerate their moral relativism and athesistic ways they are sadly and ignorantly mistaken!
It is manifestly the goal of Islam to take over our nation and all others; and when they do there will be no legitimate tolerance for Christianity or pagans or humanists.
It was Reformed Christian commitment to the freedom of grace and the Bible (vs. Islamic legalism)that incited and inspired the founders of our nation (not focusing on the writers of the founding documents)to institue representative and freedom-friendly government.
It is because the Bible is the fountainhead of of both just biblical law and the Gospel of grace in our culture that it deserves the honor of being the standard of truth-speaking. But we have lost any enlightened understading of this truths and have rushed headlong into the abyss of paganism, inclusivism and unbelief.
Whether you accept it or not there is absolute moral and spiritual Truth and the Bible God's universal revelation of it; and Jesus Christ was by his own words, the way THE TRUTH and the life.
