Bringing on the apocalypse
If what I'm reading is true, Iran's populist president believes human beings will have a hand in the return of a messiah -- "after a cataclysmic confrontation with evil and darkness, the Mahdi will lead the world to an era of universal peace," according to the teachings of Iran's dominant "Twelver" sect. This, some religious observers say,is what is fueling the country's nuclear vision.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, like Bush, believes God tells him what to do. How can you argue against that?

In a sane world, you vote against people who have let their religion drive out the latent traces of their sanity. Too bad a sane world is a fantasy brought on by wishful thinking.

Well, that's understandable, I guess... Just don't let it happen any more. {;-)

This string of Islam has a similar thread in Christianity. At one time, Pat Robertson believed that Christians would help to "clean up" the world so that it would be "fit" for the Christ to return. I am not sure what "thread" he believes in now.
I am just showing a similarity between those two faith traditions.

Word has it that there are not a few such believers in the current administration. It would not surprise me in the least, considering the sort of religious company Bush and co tend to keep.

Are there organizations that are actively attempting to bring on the end times? If so, who are they?
