I shared this story with a good Irish Catholic friend of mine. He's totally envious of Providence Catholics... Imagine being ALLOWED to eat corned beef, in exchange for an extra "act of pennance or prayer."

Corned beef, cabbage, boiled potatoes ... This grandson of Irish immigrants doesn't think your traditional St. Paddy's fare is much to celebrate.
