Does not help, so what is lost? The person praying wasting time? If prayer brings comfort to the family, then why not pray?
At the very least, it helps the one praying feel like he/she is doing something to help. Care should be taken on when and how a prayer is given in the presence of the respective prayee.
Shalom

I wonder if Templeton will give me $20,000 to study prayer? I could get Christians to try that trick that Jesus mentioned (tossing a mountain into the ocean), and report on the success rate. Yeah... I think $20,000 should just about cover it. {;-)

i agree with Koening. Jesus will not act on something just because a person is in a scientific study. Jesus is not predictable and one day to us is many more to Him. Jesus has a perfect plan for all of our lives if we accept it and if healing us from heart problems is not apart of fit, He will not do it.

Sounds like expecting help from Jesus is about as effective as waiting for random chance to help. I thought for sure I read in the Bible that Jesus said that whatever you asked for in his name, you will get. Did Jesus forget to mention some further conditions when he said that? Or was he being less than truthful?
