Too late for Tom Fox

Here's a note circulating over the Guilford College campus. The three peace keepers kidnapped along with Tom Fox, who had ties to Guilford College, were released this morning.

Friends:
The news overnight indicates that the remaining three CPT hostages, Harmeet, Norman, and James, have been freed. Details are sketchy, but evidently a plan had been in the works for some weeks, and the American and Iraqi military and police were involved, although reports say that no shots were fired. CPT had asked that no violence be used in attempts to free the hostages.
A prayer vigil in celebration of the safe release of these colleagues of Tom Fox will be held at the usual time of the weekly vigil for the hostages: today, 1:00 pm, in the Hut.

I reckon this is one of those "good stories" Our Glorious Leader is always trying to get us to pay attention to. In any event, it's very good for these three and their loved ones that they were rescued. I can't help wondering, though, whether their efforts have really made any headway against the war. Somehow, I rather doubt it.

Printed reports (and online) indicate this was a British/Canadian effort. I'm sorry that they included the line that "many civilians were involved." That'll only cause problems in Iraq for people who cooperate with "the invaders."

Prayers for all of them.

I can only wonder if they were waiting for one to be killed before launching the plan.

I mean Tom Fox is a Friend and it is known fact that the US Government has "infiltrated" Friends in Florida. This may seem far fetched to some, yet, I wonder.

With the current administration, we will NEVER know ANY truth! What a legacy to be remembered.

Darryl, I think you may be a little too paranoid on this. My level of paranoia may be a little closer to accurate. {;-)

The thing is, I don't doubt the sincerity of the people on the ground in Iraq. I think it's very possible, maybe even likely, that Mr. Fox's death helped give the authorities there the clues they needed to find the place where the rest of the hostages were. It's just a thought...

Eric, I appreciate your input. However, as I noted above, without evidence to support otherwise; that question will remain. And since we know the current administration does not know the meanins of "true/truth," that in all likelihood, we will never have any answers.
