First off, WELCOME BACK! I sure missed your entries here. now, on to the subject at hand...
The popularity of the stories of various superheroes in comic books is interesting to me. Mostly because they are modern-day myths, built to relate more closely to modern society than the older, primitive myths of the ancient world.
They tell the same sorts of stories, but in modern settings, taking into account the issues that make modern life quite different from days of yore.
I also find it interesting to see the reaction that current day religious leaders have to them. Some demonize them as "blasphemous," while others recognize their utility for teaching values and use them in conjunction with their "normal" scriptures.
Ain't religion an interesting thing to study??
