Baseball and Baptists
Need a family night? The Piedmont Baptist Association teams with the Greensboro Grasshoppers for a game and concert, featuring award-winning Christian artist Matthew West. Gates open at 3:30 p.m. for the July 16 game, with special promotions (Call (336) 275-7651 or e-mail TOMHOWE@PIEDMONTBAPTIST.ORG for more information on specially-priced ($3 to $7) tickets).
Hmmm...what other possible 'faith night' promotions can you think of for our Hoppers?

I wonder how much that sort of thing costs? The Piedmont Freethought Association could put together a Night of Reason and book Rush or Bad Religion to rock downtown for a night. How cool would that be?
HAR!!

Wonder if alcohol will be sold at the game that night? Wonder how many of those Baptists in attendance will partake of fiber in liquid form?
Shalom

Say what you will about the Baptists and Baseball, at least they aren't planning to be this tacky:

However, I'm afraid it will only be a matter of time, sadly.

"Even with the best evidence presented, some will not concede. Archaic thinking is just that, archaic. Most who post here have their minds made up and refuse to hear, much less listen, to anyone who has a POV different than his/her own.
is there any evidence presented that says the baptist at the ball park are gonna make it a beerfest ? there are others out here who have a "POV different" than yours, mainly some believe that a Christian can partake of alcohol. but it seems as you stated "Most who post here have their minds made up and refuse to hear, much less listen, to anyone who has a POV different than his/her own.
"........ so welcome to our world !
it seems that just maybe you haven't completely attained the freedom from bondage of criticism or judgement that you claimed in another blog an hour later....."Wonder if alcohol will be sold at the game that night? Wonder how many of those Baptists in attendance will partake of fiber in liquid form?".....sounds fairly judgmental to me.
one would glean from your comment that ALL baptist are evil beer drinkers. so why do you get upset when someone heap gays into one category. what's fair is fair, no ?
"I have been there and lived that life. Thank God I am free from that. The chains of bondage were broken. ".............
or have i misunderstood you ?

One has to wonder why Buz has decided to quote from other blog threads in order to craft this latest entry. It's as if he wants to just post random words in order to get everyone to scratch their heads.

eric,
quit scratchin' i'll 'xplain it to you. if someone comes on a blog and accuse others of being archaic and having their minds made up and won't listen to others pov - then tates they have been delivered from that type of live (i.e.being closed minded and not hearing other pov) and been delivered from that type of bondage - then - comes on another blog and then quasi covertly maligns baptist (remember how in recent post this same person has denigrated baptist in the same manner) and infers they (the baptists) are gonna go booze it up at the ball game. this suggests to me that this person is seeminly closed minded to others pov and very judgmental of baptist in general ( of which he says he was once a pastor and is now extremly critical of the sbc ). now do you begin to understand what i was conveying and why i used material from another blog. ya can't say one thing and then an hour later contradict yourself and not expect to be challenged.
eric in all honesty i expect you to find a defense for darryl just as he always finds a defense for you and that's ok by me.

I wonder if buz has neglected his meds or something. He has definitely gone seriously downhill with his skills for spelling. And reasoning as well. I mean, I thought for sure this was supposed to be a light, airy thread on a baseball game...

The thing is, it was not what I said that has been disputed! Rather, it was just that I am saying anything that is being disputed.
I wrote what I did regarding baptists and baseball and beer drinking because I know MANY who are UPRIGHT CHRISTIANS who malign anything and everythingon Sunday . However, once Monday (thru Saturday) rolls around, they are a part of the very things they were maligning on Sunday. This is a repetative cycle with some of these people.
Eric I hope that you grasped in some form what I was seeking to convey, I do not feel all will.
Shalom

Well, Darryl, so far as I was concerned, I understood the implication of Baptist hypocricy. Remember, I spent 20 years warming the pews of the Holy Southern Baptist Church myself. And I thought that instead of your comment being a serious attack on the validity of the Baptists, that it was a fun little tweak of the bent noses of certain types of folks.
But one often has to wonder if the old adage about people who protest too much might be true...

" I thought for sure this was supposed to be a light, airy thread on a baseball game..."
stranger thing eric, so did i (and now you are critiquing my spelling, fairly petty don't ya think ! o boy you must be bored today).........
"Wonder if alcohol will be sold at the game that night? Wonder how many of those Baptists in attendance will partake of fiber in liquid form?
Shalom"................................
eric are you so biased that you cannot see the in your face judgement of the above statement. how does that statement resemble a light & airy thread.
darryl, you are wrong, it is not ANYTHING you say, it is things that you say that you contradict yourself on that i challenge. you come across as the holier than thou guy on these religious threads but you ooze hatred towards the baptists, even to the point of trying to recruit others to protest the sbc in greensboro. but you can justify anything you say and do b/c you have no guidelines which monitor/check or refrain you from doing so (i.e.the scriptures). would it be fair to say that if the baptist (sbc) were to embrace and endorse homosexuals that you would still be a member and perhaps even in their pulpit ?
and darryl how would you respond to this statement ?
"Wonder if alcohol will be sold at the game that night? Wonder how many of those Quakers in attendance will partake of fiber in liquid form?
Shalom"................................
is the shoe uncomfortable when it's on your own foot ?
lest we forget, it was you darryl who said "The chains of bondage were broken."
i submit that you are not free from your chains anymore than i am free from mine, the difference is i admit i have a long way to go and realize i have not yet attained nor been freed of my bondage, nor do i truly completely reside in the place that God would want me. and believe it or not you are on my prayer list with many others brothers and sisters in the Lord. pride is an awful debilitating sin that slowly eats away at ones ability to hear reason and interestingly enough, to others point of view !
eric this is your que to get your spell checker out and criticize my ineptitude. btw don't you work ?
