A different kind of sanctuary
Do you support what this church is doing? The issue of illegal immigration is so complex, but what message does it send if the government decides not to arrest her?

Very interesting stuff. I applaud the church making a stand to try and instruct the government on what it sees as a moral lapse. It's the sort of thing that governments (especially rule-bound beaurocratic ones) often need to hear. One would hope that such an action would prompt folks to step back from "business as usual" and consider re-thinking a few things.
And that is (IMO) one of the values that the ancient custom of "sanctuary" has. It really ought to be respected, at least, assuming it is used sensibly by the churches. As with all sensible ideas, there is always a possibility for abuse. But the story here sounds like its valid.
