Goodbye Alice
"It has drawn this community together in an act of generosity like I've never seen before," said Terry Moore-Painter, a chaplain at the Moses Cone Regional Cancer Center, where Alice was initially treated. "I think just the fact that so many people who didn't know Alice were so moved by her story to support her ... that's a tremendous thing."

"Why does all this have to happen to Alice?" he'd said earlier, stroking her hair. "She has been through so much."
It's indeed sad to see someone suffer with such a terrible thing as leukemia. This sort of event always reminds me of how fragile and wonderous all life is. It always takes a little from us when anyone's life ends. "Ask not for whom the bell tolls -- it tolls for thee."
