i really like most of what the pastor had to say and agree with most also. but he said "Let me be very frank here. I'm not out to hurt anyone's feelings," he said. "But, honey, in today's world, you don't really know who your husband or wife, boyfriend or girlfriend has been with." i am not an ostrich but if my minister said that to me or during a service i would be offended. he nor anyone else has the right or priviledge to question my wife's morals. i've been married 22 yrs. and i never once entertained a thought concerning my wifes fidelity, nor have i ever entertained the thought to sack another woman. with all honesty and trust i can unequivocally state that i do indeed know who my wife has been with for the past 22 years.
and this comment just makes me scratch my head and say , huh ? "They raised various possible explanations for the high AIDS rate among blacks. One is that they have less access to health care, so they are less likely to be tested.".......
since when did the mere lack of access to health care or hiv testing ever cause someone to contract aids ?? i am about as non racist as one can be, so take this comment in that context....when the women of the black community refuse sexual relations until the man is her husband and can quit saying 'my babies daddy' instead of my husbands child, then i believe the hiv/aids rates will be reduced....because it takes a certain amount of committment to enter into a true marriage and do what it takes to make it work. this statement could be made to any ethic group but the lte is referencing mostly the black community. it breaks my heart that the black community suffers such a high disproportionate rates of hiv/aids but i firmly believe they have it in 'their power' to rectify the majority of this issue and i wish them well.
