When are people finally going to realize that all preachers, regardless of the scholarship they try to bring to bear on the subject, are only making their best guess when it comes to talking about God?

To make a long story short, the TV medium has catpulted tehologically deficient, even whako relgious entrepreneurs into postions of power and influence, who have no business there. The elctronic media does that generally.
These guys build up large local congregations and use the funds to tap into the TV largesse, and go from there. There are better and worse minstries on the tube, even some very good ones; but far too many of the K.A. Paul type.
Their theology of the "end times" is typically of the erroneous "dispensational" variety; causing them to interpret eveything in the current news pipeline in terms of the imminent return of Jesus.
Most of these dispensationalist preachers are not real scholars in any sense, but merely cookie-cutter copies, thrice or more removed from the orininal propagators of dispensationalism, who were themselves in error on this particualr issue.
Of course, no one has a corner on "understanding" God, but He HAS given us his infallible Word in order to reveal Himself and His plan of redemption - whether we responsibly and intelligently interpret it or not. There have been, and are, godly and scholarly interpreters who have faithfully assisted Christains in knowing who God is and what He calls us to do. Perfection, no; sufficient for us this side of heaven, yes - if we humbly and honestly seek His guidance in faithful study and prayer.
TV simply breeds superficiality, senationalism and corruption. which in no way represents biblical, orthodox Christainity. Christains, Caveat emptor!

"Of course, no one has a corner on "understanding" God, but He HAS given us his infallible Word in order to reveal Himself and His plan of redemption..."
Do you think that the people who wrote the Bible had a "corner" on understanding God? Just wondering how you can figure some book can be "infallible" when it's been chewed over by very fallible humans for thousands of years?

Books may have been chewed over by fallible humans but only books said churches wanted revealed and put forth in a worshipers hands. Not all books of the bible are included. We are told to worship this way and this way only then a new book comes out and whoops that one was left out for others not to know. So i guess my question is this why is it that there is a bible of GODS word but it is incomplete? So when folks that want to actually become christians look into this religion it leaves a sense of what is being hidden from us? why hide HIS words from us? I have looked at alot of religions before making my choice and i will bet my choice in a christians eyes is going to damn me to hell forever. These are some of the questions i have asked Catholic priests and methodist preachers and Baptist preachers and not a one could answer me. In my opinion faith is where you put it if you truely believe in that faith then hold on to it if it brings you peace, solitude, joy and happiness and balance then why change your faith to fit others it is you that has to answer for your choices not those others who are trying to save you. We are here on this earth to live and learn and love.
