Why do the $cientologists think they need a Messiah? They have claimed to have heard from L. Ron Hubbard repeatedly after his death -- sorry, his "leaving his body to continue his research on Thetans."
Of course, if Cruise were to voluntarily join the old guy in his "research," that might make a more lasting impression on people...

What a schlockfest this is.

anyone who has seriously read scripture with divine guidance, should not be surprised in the least about this schlockfest (good word nikos).

It doesn't take reading any holy writings to help with this. Religion is ever busy in the human mind, morphing in strange new directions at every tiniest opportunity. A cursory glance at the history of religion should tell you that.

Thanks Buz, God bless.
Gang, there is "religion," driven by human sin and error, and there is God's self-revelation in His Word and Son. Humanism, Marxism, Mormonism, JW's, progressivism, Eastern religions, Western philosophy, and atheism are just variants of the former.
Religion there WILL BE, for eveyone does and must make sense of it all in order to live sanely for one nanosecond, whether consiously or unconsciously. One cannot live in any kind of social arragement without the Moral Law or the God-ordained dynamic of love and truth - whether he or she admits it or not! It is pereceived by common grace as natural law, or most purely and completely through the special revelation of God's infallible Word.
Cruise is just one of zanier Hollywood versions. But darkness is darkness, whether it has a doctorate or a schlocktorate. There is only one Light of the World, one Fount of All Wisdom, who declared Himself to be the Way, the Truth and the Life. Holywood seems to be the fount of all foolishness, along with most universities today.
17 "This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, 18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; 19 who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
20 But you have not so learned Christ, 21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness." (Ephesians 4:17ff)
Soli Deo Gloria!
