The preacher wears "666" tattoo

The church that he began building 20 years ago in Miami resembles no other:Followers have protested Christian churches in Miami and Latin America, disrupting services and smashing crosses and statues of Jesus.
De Jesus preaches there is no devil and no sin. His followers, he says, literally can do no wrong in God's eyes. The church calls itself the "Government of God on Earth" and uses a seal similar to the United States.

These people are "drinking Kool-Aid" whether they realize it or not. Of course, it's a foregone conclusion that they don't realize it. More's the pity. :(

It's very difficult to understand the mind of someone like this. The best that I can surmise is that spiritual/biblical ideas are so powerful and cosmic that they can easily be commandeered to serve the most maniacal and distorted of purposes. In fact, all great idea systems can be perverted and misapplied by neurotic and pathological types. The real name for this malevolent tendency is sin, which not only manifests itself in gross evils such as murder, rape and robbery; but in the dark designs of sick and depraved minds at every level of human society.

On the other hand, it shows that there is a balanced and healthy manner of understanding the inspired Scriptures, which takes the truths therein and applies them for the good of people and nations: saving grace, acts of love and benevolence, sacrifice for the good of others, hospitals, orphanages, hospice ministries, the balanced preaching and teaching of the Word, et al.

St. Paul speaks of “rightly dividing the word of truth” – some even preach the Gospel out of selfish ambition, he says. Other instances of eccentric types with wrong motives and distorted doctrine are also cited in his epistles. It just sort of comes with the territory in a fallen and depraved world. But if the Word is rightly interpreted and lovingly and sincerely applied great and glorious things are done for the good of all men. A cache of dynamite can be used to break new ground for a school, hospital or dam; or it can be used to kill and destroy. Powerful stuff needs to be handled carefully and correctly.
This guy is way off the mark!

I would ask Mr. Glenn some questions regarding his post, but I'd worry that he might be inclined to beat up an atheist in Jesus' rockin' name. {;-)

Eric, I don't think Mr. Glenn has ANY realtionship to the Jesue I know and serve. Perhaps Mr. Glenn would rather switch to the Spike TV blog. Your comments were not very respectful to that name "which is above every name." "rockin'" ?

You mean there aren't good Christian rappers helping to spread the Gospel? Must all potential converts and worshippers be addressed and sing the praises of Christ in Jacobean English?
