This Easter weekend...
UPDATE: Access is available.
SORRY! I've been away and a number of you have emailed me that you didn't have access to this over the past few days. Hopefully you will have access to the blog real soon....
CNN is asking, "What is a Christian?"
If you are not a Christian, tell me about the Christians you know, based on how your contact with them. If you are a Christian, what are you hoping that they say.

Should we care as long as there's an M.D. behind his/her name?
"This is yet more evidence that doctors are not just objective, neutral scientists. Their religious or secular commitments influence the way they respond to patients and the way they interpret data," Dr. Farr Curlin, a University of Chicago researcher, said in a telephone interview.
Real world mininistry?
Over the smell of maple syrup and sausage, Gross and other guest speakers -- including a former producer of pornography -- talk to the men about how pornography negatively affects their lives, including relationships with their families and with God. The men who come to hear them speak want to make sure they don't develop a problem themselves.
"A lot of people think Christians sure don't struggle with this," Gross said. "The stats don't lie: Christians are consuming pornography. And to me, it's not a surprise."
A Profound Test of Faith
CARLSBAD, Calif. — On a marquee outside and on a banner inside, Pilgrim United Church of Christ proclaims, "All are welcome." Sustained by the belief that embracing all comers is a living example of Christ's love, Pilgrim now faces a profound test of faith: What to do with repentent sex offenders who want to worship in their pews.

'Don't make me come down there'
If 'God' can't get people to pay attention, then maybe Satan can:
Cedar Creek Church is spreading the word that Satan is really, really annoyed with it. "Cedar Creek is killing me," he says in one billboard ad.
Mixed blessing for Romney?
Will Americans react to Romney's Morman faith the way some did when JFK was making strides to the White House as the first Catholic president:
"Mormons are fueling his (Mitt Romney's) strong fundraising operation, which this week reported raising $21 million, the most of any Republican candidate. And they are laying the foundation for a potent grass-roots network -- including a cadre of young church members experienced in door-to-door missions who say they are looking forward to hitting the streets for him.”
The evil in this world
(Sorry that this post and others were not available Monday -- another software issue):
We don't know the whys, but I do know that, again, we've seen another example of unmitigated evil.

real heroes step forward. I suspect this Holocaust survivor wasn't the only one.
'God cares; We choose'
I know lots of people are grappling with the whys today.
What does your faith tradition say about such senseless acts?
'Rap deserves a slap in the faith'
"Proverbs 18:21 says "Death and life are in the power of the tongue,'" she says.
"It's time for everyone to stand up against the bullies of the rap music industry. It's time for CDs to burn, for letters to be written, for televisions to be turned off and iPod earbuds to be yanked off, all in favor of strengthening what good remains."
The wisdom of others
"At a time like this, when our whole nation and much of the world is reeling in horror at the tragedy which has taken place at Virginia Tech, it seems necessary to respond in some fashion," says Mark Sills, executive director of FaithAction International House. "What can we say, how can we react in a way that makes sense of such a senseless event? If you are like me, it is impossible to make sense of this, or even to express our feelings of grief and compassion for those who are suffering so much. Perhaps we can all draw some inspiration and insight from the wisdom of others: "

"In the name of MySpace, YouTube and the holy Internet, amen."
How to pick the next president?
"When a politician comes out with an idea or a platform," Tamara Scott said, "we take it to God's word and say, 'How does this measure up?' "

Father wants killer to die
"Robert Jackson cannot understand why anyone would care whether death row inmates suffer when lethal injection is administered, especially if the murderers tormented their victims."
Eleven families waiting...
MADISON, Wisconsin (AP) -- The Wiccan pentacle has been added to the list of emblems allowed in national cemeteries and on government-issued headstones of fallen soldiers, according to a settlement announced Monday.
A settlement between the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Wiccans adds the five-pointed star to the list of "emblems of belief" allowed on VA grave markers.
Eleven families nationwide are waiting for grave markers with the pentacle, said Selena Fox, a Wiccan high priestess with Circle Sanctuary in Barneveld, Wisconsin, a plaintiff in the lawsuit.

Crime: 'insufficiently veiled'
TEHRAN, Iran - With the arrival of spring, Iranian police have launched a crackdown against women accused of not covering up enough, arresting nearly 300 women, some for wearing too tight an overcoat or letting too much hair peek out from under their veil, authorities said Monday.
Memories still haunting on genocide anniversary
GLENDALE - The blood-stained carriage and the smoldering city still seemed fresh to the Rev. Vartan Dulgarian as he recalled personal memories of what many believe was the first genocide of the 20th century.
"The garbage wagon -- all the bodies just piled up -- the blood was flowing for three days," Dulgarian, 96, said Monday as he recounted memories of a massacre of Armenian in Izmir in 1922. The city on Turkey's Aegean coast, then held by Greeks, was set ablaze by invading Turks.
Could it be?
A study by a Mississippi researcher says kids with religious parents are better behaved and adjusted than other children. This study, which relies on the observation of parents, is said to be the first to look at the effects of religion on young child development.
Poll: Muslims think U.S. wants to weaken Islam
