The prayers in our community

Throughout the evening, the pastors encouraged Korean Americans not to be ashamed of their common heritage with Cho.

"I am not shamed as a Korean American, I do not have guilty feelings as a Korean American," said the Rev. Sang Kwak of Korean United Methodist Church.

I don't understand why a group of people should fear retribution over the actions of a single, obviously insane person from their group. I think nearly all Americans understand that Cho went over the edge on his own, and not specifically due to any actions (or inactions) that are the responsibility of the Korean community.

There are some lessons that all of us need to learn from this, and that will be discussed at length, if we have any sense. The loss of dozens of the brightest minds in our country is a terrible thing, and we should at least try to do everything we can to keep more of these things from happening again.
