Good Bible knowledge
I wonder if he'd have passed had he instead recited from the Torah or the Qu'ran?

He gets out just because he knew the 23rd psalm? This is a joke right?

Well, RS, he wasn't "let off" of the charge. He only had his bond set at $10,000. I don't think he got much of a bargain for his "Bible knowledge."
But the concept is amusing. I doubt I'll ever be in a similar situation. However, I rather think it would be fun to offer to recite Psalm 137. That one's always good for a few strange expressions.

I agree, it's a bit bizarre. But it is nice to know that anyone can recite anyting from the Scriptures these days. He deserved the applause - as well as the sentence.
